The perfect base for exploring Iceland
We enjoyed every minute of our stay! The Barn House is the perfect combination of modern architecture and tons of coziness. Very nicely decorated and fully equipped with everything imaginable - even robes and slippers for those cold moments after you leave the hot tub ... Kristinn is a great host who made our stay very comfortable with personalized advice and a detailed guidebook for exploring the South and the Southwest of Iceland. We highly recommend this unique rental - and we'll certainly be back!

Tolles und modernes Haus
Das Haus ist mit allem ausgestattet was man sich wünschen kann (Bademantel für hot pot, Essig und Öl, Kaffeekapseln etc.). Die Kinder haben sowohl den hot pot, den Garten zum Kicken als auch den Strand zum Steine klettern geliebt.

Ein wunderschönes Haus in welchem man sich sofort WILLKOMMEN fühlt!
Die vorgegebenen Zeichen der Bewertung reichen leider nicht annähernd aus, um dieses Haus, diese Gastfreundschaft und die damit verbundene Zeit im Barn House in Worte zu fassen! Dank der vorab zugesandten Informationen von Kristinn, wo sich der Eingang befindet (links am Haus), mit Schlüsselkasten und Zugangscodes, konnten wir das Haus bei unserer Ankunft ohne Probleme betreten. Der „echte“ Eindruck des Hauses ist wie auf den Fotos beschrieben, wunderschön. Man fühlt sich dank der „Anleitung“, der schnellen Beantwortung während des Buchungsprozesses von Kristinn, jederzeit herzlich willkommen. Fragen an sich, ergaben sich für uns keine, da zusätzlich zu den bereits zugesandten Informationen auch noch eine Willkommens-Mappe bereit lag, die alles Wesentliche, samt den Bedienungsanleitungen für bspw. Herd, Waschmaschine, Trockner etc. bereit hielt. Die Kleinigkeiten, die einen Aufenthalt neben dem unbeschreiblich schönen Haus dann richtig perfekt werden lassen, sind die Bedachten Details, wie bereit liegendes Waschpulver, Seife, Kaffeekapseln etc. Auch Öl, Zucker und Salz, sind vorrätig und alles andere findet man im nächsten Ort Selfoss, der gute 12 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt liegt. Die direkte Lage des Barn Hauses am Lavastrand, das Fernglas im Wohnzimmer, welches zur Beobachtung der Wellen und Vögel einlädt, gibt dem Haus neben allen anderen Annehmlichkeiten das besondere Flair. Im Haus selbst befinden sich viele unterschiedliche Lampen, die neben den vorrätigen Kerzen, eine stimmungsvolle Beleuchtung erzeugen. Der Hot Tub, welcher sich auf der Terrasse direkt hinter dem Haus befindet, lädt zur Entspannung, nach einem ereignisreichen Tag mit vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten, ein. Wir hatten angenehme 34 Grad dort drin und selbst wenn es uns zu kalt gewesen wäre, hatten Kristinn & Rut natürlich auch hierfür eine Anleitung geschrieben, wie man die Warmwasserzufuhr für den Hot Tub hätte erhöhen können. Dieses Ferienhaus ist von seinen Besitzern mit allem bedacht worden und neben der sehr, sehr netten und persönlichen Art E-Mails zu beantworten, durften wir in diesem GROßARTIGEN Haus einen fantastischen Urlaub verbringen. Wir hatten das große Glück in der letzten Nacht noch die wunderbaren und einmalig schönen Polarlichter über dem Haus beobachten zu dürfen. Vielen herzlichen Dank liebe Kristinn, lieber Rut, dass wir diese Erlebnisse in eurem WUNDERSCHÖNEN Haus, in welchem wir uns ab dem ersten Moment willkommen gefühlt haben, erleben durften.

Das Barnhouse zeichnet sich durch einen tollen Meerblick mit einer sehr schönen und hochwertigen Einrichtung aus. Der Hot Tub ist bei jedem Wetter ein gemütlicher Aufenthaltsort. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter ist äußerst angenehm, da man Tipps für die Region bekommt und alles zeitnah geklärt werden kann!

Wunderschönes Haus, einfach perfekt
Wir haben den Aufenthalt in diesem einzigartigen und sehr schön und gut eingerichteten Haus sehr genossen. Die Lage direkt am Meer ist traumhaft, absolut ruhig und das Haus ist einfach perfekt ausgestattet. Die Nähe zu Reykjavik und den vielen Ausflugszielen im Süden der Insel sind ebenfalls erwähnenswert. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Absoluter Designtraum zum Wohlfühlen
Bereits die Bilder bei der Buchung haben uns begeistert. Dies wurde beim Eintreffen vor Ort dann zu 100% bestätigt. Dieses Ferienhaus ist der absolute Traum. Die Architektur und die verwendeten Materialien sind der reine Wahnsinn. Die Einrichtung incl. der vielen Details ist einzigartig und extrem hochwertig. So etwas haben wir einem Ferienhaus bisher nicht erlebt! Man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Die Lage direkt am Meer - unbeschreiblich. Von hier kann man tolle Tagestouren entlang der Küste, ins Landesinnere oder nach Reykjavik unternehmen. Der Kontakt mit den Vermietern ist sehr nett und persönlich. Als absolutes Highlight und perfekter Abschluß haben wir in der letzten Nacht bei wolkenlosem Himmel zwei Stunden langPolarlichter direkt über dem Haus erleben können - ohne Worte! Wir können dieses Ferienhaus uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und wir sind sicher nicht das letzte mal hier gewesen zu sein. Danke!

Beautiful home with everything we needed
The barn house was a peaceful base camp for exploring the south coast. We enjoyed the hot tub. The beds and bedding were comfortable. The most well stocked property I have ever stayed at with cooking supplies, laundry, and bathrobes. Wonderful base for seeing Iceland
We spent a full week at the Barn House, using it as a base from which to see much of Iceland. It was fantastic. Easily accessible to Reykjavik, the Golden Circle and much of the South Coast. We even got lucky and saw the aurora borealis one night. The house is cozy, the hot tub amazing and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen is small but contains everything you need. Highly recommend.

Just perfect
My husband & I just stayed with our teen twins at the barn house. Just perfect! From the view, to the comforts, to the friendly neighbor & backyard, we’d stay again. Being able to walk along the sea, and take a hot tub dip each night, was amazing. The little village was having a community festival, and its proximity to Selfoss and the southern coast plus golden circle was great. One night, we came back after hiking and made a great lamb dinner and enjoyed the peace. And thank you to the hosts for being so great with communicating. Since coming home, we’ve already have a ton of friends ask where we stayed. Til another time!

Unique and beautifully decorated barn house!
We enjoyed the vistas (and the hot tub) from this fully stocked beach house. Note that the creative nautical-style double-step staircase is treacherous for anyone with limited mobility and makes hauling suitcases upstairs a bit of a challenge. The European oven also features a dishwasher (!) but no microwave.It is a great location for exploring the south coast of Iceland.

Lovely getaway.

Fantastic views of the ocean, the stars and the Northern lights!!!!
Upon arrival at the Barn House, we were blown away by the uniqueness, the attention to detail, the interior design and the place overall. We loved the setup, enjoyed looking up at the stars while soaking in the hot tub, waking up to the views of the ocean and the heated floors were such a treat! Centrally located between Reykavik, The Golden Circle and the black sand beaches in Vik on the southern coast. It truly was a magical trip and Kristinn was really great and responsive when we thought we left a phone at the house after departing! My family of four enjoyed our stay in Stokkseyri. The home is wonderfully inviting and located right on the coast of a lovely and quiet village. Dreamy ocean-front rental in Iceland
This is a very charming rental--well known as the "barn house" and obviously owned by a highly qualified interior designer. It is picture perfect with warm lighting and feels so cozy at night. The house is stocked with everything needed for a stay, including the kitchen, laundry facilities, gorgeous bathroom, ideal hot tub setting with ocean views, binoculars (nice touch!) and robes/slippers (small but appreciated), along with ample towels. Owner provides useful information for the area, including a nice referral to two restaurants that we loved (Rauða Húsið and Fjöruborðið Restaurant). We would go back in a heartbeat!

Stunning Property!
Great location! Amazing view! Beautiful home! We truly enjoyed our stay at the Barn. It was perfect for my husband and I, but could easily fit 3-4 more people. The view of the ocean couldn't get any better. On our first day we could see whales spouting and jumping from the comfort of the home. The Barn was sparkling clean and offers all the amenities. We picked up groceries in nearby Selfoss and made ourselves at home. The hot tub felt wonderful at the end of the day. This is the perfect location to explore the Golden Circle and to make a trek south towards Vik. The owners were great to communicate with and responded immediately to our questions. You will not regret booking this location!

Beautiful home! Wonderful vacation spot.
We loved our stay in the Barn House. We are a family of four (2 teenagers) - we all loved this house. A relaxing, spectacular setting to return to after days exploring Iceland. While staying here, we took the ferry out to Vestmannaeyjar, and spent a day further east at Jokulsarlon and Skaftafell (a long drive, but fantastic scenery and an awesome hike). The home is as photographed - beautiful. We enjoyed looking out over the ocean, and loved the hot tub. Communication with the owners was excellent. Perfect location if you plan on doing both the Golden circle and the south coast drive to Vic. House was well appointed with a detailed instruction book in English for operating washing machine, dishwasher etc. would recommend! The only suggestions I have is for some kind of weights at bottom of shower curtain so it isn’t constantly sticking to you, an extra section of sofa and a drying rack for wet suits 😊

Beautiful cozy house for the perfect Iceland experience
We loved staying in this magical, cozy home right on the water with amazing views. The house is warm, clean, bright, fully stocked and had everything we needed for our family. Our 10 and 7 year old boys loved exploring here. In April the wind and rain were constant and this house (and the hot tub!) was our oasis after long days exploring rugged landscapes. We loved being in the town of Stokkseyri- it gave us a sense of living in a small town and it is the perfect location from which to explore the southeast coast. Everything you need is within a 15 minute drive in Selfoss. We had a great experience riding horses right up the road in Eyrarbakki at Bakkahestar. Kristinn and Rut were very accommodating with our specific needs. We could not have had a better experience in this special home.

ALMOST PERFECT!
I met my 2 sons in Iceland and after a 2 night stay in Reykjavik, we then stayed at the Barn House and drove to the spectacular sites within a 2 hour drive of the house. We always looked forward to coming back to relax in the hot tub and take in all the stars and hoping to see the Northern Lights. I don't think the house would be suitable for older adults or families with young children, as the steps to the main floor are a little steep and difficult to maneuver. A microwave would have been convenient. But the other amenities and useful information given by Kristinn and Rut more than made up for it. Thank you again for sharing your unique and beautiful home. Isolated but comfortable
The home was well furnished and very comfortable but extremely isolated [ one hour from Reykjavik]. There wasn't even an open coffee house near by. We could not get the oven to work and the smoke alarms went off during our stay requiring us to remove each alarm battery. I would recommend this property if you really want to get away from it all!

We are happy to hear that you found our home well furnished and very comfortable. But at the same time we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay more than this. - Like in every home, smoke alarms can go off, sometimes just because of the toaster or when cooking bacon. You were clever removing the batteries. - The oven is quite simple to operate, but in case guests are having problems with it, there are instructions in the booklet at the house. We urge our guests to get in touch if something comes up, so that a problem like this can be solved right away. - The house is in a very small town (population of 450 people), but only a 15 km away for the largest town on the south coast (Selfoss) and well situated to explore all the sights in the south. When a booking is confirmed we send all guests a detailed welcome letter (18p) with information about the house, the town, surroundings, sights, restaurants, coffeehouses and a lot more in the area. So, it should be of no surprise for guests that there is not much going on in this little town (it has one of the country's best langoustine restaurant though). The barn house is definitely an option for guests who want to get a way from it all and stay in a unique house with a beautiful ocean view.

Great place, great views, just as described!
We had a wonderful experience in the barn house. The pictures do a great job of showing exactly what the house looks like. We were there with our two young boys and they loved the house as well. The stairs are steep so something to watch if you have really little ones. They also had instructions on using all of the appliances and amenities. They also translated all of the options on the washer/dryer so you knew what setting you were choosing. You don't realize how difficult it can be to operate a dryer until you have no idea what any of it says, lol. We spent one day in Reykjavik and another roadtripping the southern part of the ring road so this was the perfect location in between all of the places that we wanted to go. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Relaxing Oceanside Retreat in Beautiful Stokkseyri
Our family recently stayed here for 4 nights. The barn house was our beautiful, warm retreat to come back to after days of exploring the gorgeous, cold Iceland countryside. It was our home away from home for the week. The view from the deck is fabulous. We appreciated the smart TV and wifi. (We have 2 teenagers.) It has all the necessities you'll need with the exception of plug adapters. The one thing i wasn't expecting was European outlets. We went into Selfoss and bought a plug adapter so I could use my curling wand. So, if you're traveling from America, bring an adapter and you're all set! I highly recommend staying here and feel so lucky to have stumbled across it on my vacation rental search. Thanks Kristinn & Rut!

A beautiful house right by the shore which we thoroughly enjoyed
Stayed here early November. Property was very well kept, clean and very warm which was as well as the weather was very cold. We are a family of 5 and had lots of room. The stairs up to the living room was steep so wouldn't be ideal for small kids but that's the only issue. Our kids loved the hot tub, the telescope and of course the wifi. The house had everything we needed and was great to return to after a days sightseeing. The kitchen area is well stocked, the bathroom v clean and great shower. Stokkseyri is small and with only 1 small shop but Selfoss 10 mins away has everything you'd need. As for sightseeing Iceland has it all Recommend going to blue lagoon straight from the airport and book in advance to avoid queues. We drove the golden circle kerid., geysir, gulfoss, and back via thingvellir national park. It's one long day but easy drive and worth it The south coast drive takes you by seljalandfoss, skogafoss and by the glacier to Vik. We did this another day , scenery is incredible. Don't miss the black sand beach near Vik. We also had a Fay in Reykjavik if going longer than 3-4 days then I would book activities. thanks Kristinn for the use of your house. Cosy and unique with amazing views
Very well equipped, great location for travelling to the sights - lots of time spent just watching the sea from the lounge. Service from Kristin was friendly and prompt - would definitely stay here again!

Perfect hide away
The whole family (with two teenagers) loved the house. The view is stunning and the whole house is very nicely furnished and decorated. When we arrived, it was stormy and rainy outside and we all felt perfectly fine with staying inside the cosy barn house.

Beautiful, well appointed house in great location overlooking the sea
The house is beautiful and nicely decorated. The beds and furniture are comfortable. The view from the upstairs deck is awesome. Everything you need is there, in the kitchen and throughout. The water pressure is nice and the hot tub pleasant. The town of Stokkseyri is convenient for travel in all directions. I would recommend it and stay there again. Not for people with mobility issues though, the steps leading to the upstairs are a bit challenging.

PICTURE PERFECT
The barn house is one of kind. Location,view, amenities....we enjoyed a week by the sea. I cooked everyday, the kitchen is a bright space to prepare meals. We walked on the beach, watched the tide and just enjoyed the space. Bring wind and rain gear and you'll have the time of your life. We have already made reservations for December!

Perfect, luxury escape!
We stayed for 3 nights in October. The barn is beautiful in it's aesthetic and you couldn't ask for a more beautiful and perfect location. The sea is only a few steps away and everything we needed was within minutes--AMAZING lobster soup down the road or full groceries and fantastic coffee place Selfoss. Kristinn provided great information and the barn had everything we needed. The only hallenge we had was convincing ourselves it was time to leave. Will be returning--
