The first impression of the hotel, esp. how it looks from the outside, is quite positive. Compared to other Maltese hotels I have been to, it looks quite welcoming - but unfortunately, it is not.
I. Breakfast
There was no real choice, no fruits, no fresh cheese, and no options for vegetarians. Horrible coffee, but good tea. The breakfast was English rather than continental, but even English guests I spoke to found it awful or disappointing.
II. Rooms
The room was pretty small, the furniture simple and crimped, and the deco uncharming. The lights were so bad that it was almost impossible to put on make-up or to put in contact lenses.
III. Location
Very quiet place. Nice view, but no sea view. Next to the hotel is a pet shop where animals are kept under sad conditions.
The infrastructure is rather bad, as there are no restaurants or shops around, so you have to walk ~20 minutes to get to Bugibba Square or the Bus Terminus. The near bus stop is helpful, the buses go directly to Valletta, Paceville/St Giljan, Cirkewwa or the airport.
IV. Entertainment
Apart from a small kiosk, the hotel has a bar, a cafe and a lounge - all being in the same room. In the evening, you can spend your time playing bingo, singing karaoke songs or listening to solo entertainers. The indoor swimming pool is only 1.37m deep, the jacuzzi was defect. You have to pay extra for the pool, the minibar, the scales or the safe.
V. Staff
Apart from the room maids, the staff was surprisingly unfriendly.
