Jugendherberge für 100€/US$ - alles überteuert
Der "Standart" dieses Hotels für rd 100 €/US$ ist dem einer Jugendherberge angemessen! Gebucht wurde Zimmer mit Gartenblick, Ausblick s. Foto- Bedienung "träge", um es vorsichtig auszudrücken, Frühstück für 16-20€ kläglich. Letztlich alles auf der Insel ist völlig überteuert! Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis widerspricht jeglicher Realität der "Dritten Welt"!

Keine Schalldämmung zum Nachbarraum
Wurde im Nebenappartement, das durch eine versperrte Doppeltür von unseren Schlafraum getrennt war, durch die aber abends das eingeschaltete Licht der Nachbarn sichtbar war, gesprochen, so hätten wir uns ohne Probleme an der Unterhaltung beteiligen können. Die Schalldämmung ist absolut unzureichend!

Die Poolanlage schien sauber, der Strand am Hotel liegt an der Südküste also rauhes Wasser nichts zum Schnorcheln, Poolbar hat gute preise bei der die Leistung stimmt!

Das Dover ist perfekt gelegen. Die Belegschaft ist sehr freundlich! Vorallem Mari, die Touristen Informationen gibt, macht ihren Job super gut! Das einzige manco ist das es keine Liegestühle am Strand hat dafür aber auf der Terrasse und um den Pool. Jedoch macht den Standort des Dover dieses Manco wieder weg.

Gute Lage,netter Innenhof mit Pool
In den 3 Appartements im EG( um die Rezeption) kaum Tageslicht (konstruktionbedingt durch fest eingebaute Lamellenrolladen ) dafür angenehm kühl. Europäisches Frühstück-naja.Es gibt ja die Kitchinette. Personal teils sehr freundlich, teils noch Schulungsbedarf.Zum langen Strand ca 100 m,zig Restaurants und Einkaufsläden in fussläufiger Entfernung. Gerne wieder !

Durchschnittliches Hotel, zentrale Lage. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants aller Preisklassen in unmittelbarer Umgebung.Allerdings würde ich im Nachhinein ein Zimmer mit Poolblick buchen,von den Dependancen doch ein bischen aufwändig zum Strand. Immer wieder .

Tolle Lage am Ender des St. Lawrence Gap, Barbados
Wir haben erhalten, was wir erwartet hatten: ein kleines, sauberes Zimmer mit Doppelbett. Dazu ein Minibad im karbischen Style (d.h. schimmeliger Duschvorhang und ständig tropfende Wasserhähne). Die Möbel im Zimmer sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber durchaus ok. Wir waren schon öfters auf Barbados und das Zimmer war im Vergleich zu anderen für diesen Preis i.O. Wir hatten einen Balkon mit Ocean View und einen fantastischen Ausblick auf´s Meer. Wer in Zimmer mit Seeblick reservieren möchte sollte nach einem Zimmer im 3. OG fragen, da man anonsten die Palmen vor der Nase hat. Über den Service kann ich wenig sagen, da wir nur beim check in und check out Kontakt hatten. Hier sind uns freundliche Angestellte mit der karisbischen Gelassenheit begegnet.Die Lage des Hotels hat uns gut gefallen. Man ist zwar am berühmten St. Lawrence Gap, jedoch am Ende der Amüsiermeile und somit weg vom Krach. Lediglich das angrenzende Hotel Turtle Beach bietet jeden Abend Programm mit Musik, die jedoch gegen elf Uhr Abends verstummt.

Das Personal an der Poolbar schlief ab und an mal am Sessel sitzend, den Kopf am Tisch ein. Beim betreten der Bar wurden sie meist munter! Zimmerreinigung Perfekt. Rezeption sachlich. Für einen Badeurlaub perfekt, wer jedoch mehr sucht sollte lieber eine andere Insel in der Karibik bereisen. Gutes Essen findet man schwer oder kaum, selbst mit Mietwagen nicht. Die Freundlichkeit der Einheimischen hält sich in Grenzen. Jeden Tag holte ich unseren täglichen Einkauf im "Dover Deli", soweit alles gut, bis ich mir erlaubte direkt vom Strand (ohne Shirt) hinzulaufen um Brötchen zu holen. Einige Schritte schaffte ich in den Laden bevor ich von einer wütenden Kassiererin namens Sahra angeschrien wurde mit dem Wort Out! Naja... Über die Strassenhädler will ich keine Worte verlieren!!!

Sehr gute Lage
Der große Vorteil des Hotels ist die Lage direkt am St. Lawrence Gap und dem direkten Zugang zum traumhaften Dover Beach. Das Hotel besteht aus drei Gebäuden - wobei die Zimmer im Flower House ein "Update" dringen nötig hätten. Das Haupthaus und das Cold-Water-House sind zu empfehlen. Sehr gutes Frühstück gibt es im Hotel gegenüber "Ocean 15".

Das Hotel Dover Beach befindet sich in ruhiger Lage und trozdem in der Nähe von Bars und Restaurants
Das Dover Beach ist ein kleines gemütliches Hotel in ruhiger Lage, trotzdem sind Bars und Restaurants bequem in ca. 10 min. Fußweg zu erreichen. Schöne Terrasse mit leider wenig Schatten. Keine Liegen am Strand.

The restaurant staff are in dire need of customer service training. We had to seat ourself, find our own menu and cutlery and dust the sand off the chairs and tables before sitting. Ordered a soup starter and mains and for some inexplicable reason everything was served to us all at once. By the time we were done with our soup which was unbarebly sweet for a "vegetable soup" our mains were cold. Food lacked flavour and staff were cold and unprofessional. When done with the meal no one showed up for us to sign off on the bill....we had to go find the staff ourselves. Overall a very dissapointing experience.

A typical 3 star hotel. The front desk staff are very lovely, friendly and welcoming. I was disappointed that there was no coffee machine in the room because that’s standard at all hotels. We had to buy our own coffee at the convenient store down the street. We asked for small packets of cream and sugar from the restaurant at the hotel but they refused to give us any unless we purchased a coffee from them. The water from the shower head was spilling over the glass door and making a puddle in our washroom on the first day but the staff quickly jumped on it and fixed this immediately. It’s a good hotel if you’re looking for something more affordable while travelling. The location is perfect and in the lively st. Lawrence gap area. Very touristy and the locals are very kind and friendly. We never felt uncomfortable even when we were walking around in the dark at night.

The staff were really personable, kind and professional. The rooms were clean and correct. The common areas are not in perfect condition, but that was a fair trade-off for the price. In total it was a pleasant stay without the cost of luxury resort prices.

Perhaps you may want to message me to point out the particular departmentThe beach do change from day to day especially around Easter. We have no control over this. Sometime it is calm and other times it can be rough. Customer Service needs upgrading!! My spouse and I arrived at the hotel 10 minutes before check-in time. We were met with a dry impersonal attitude of "your room is not ready yet". We waited another 40 mins before we were informed that the room was ready. There was no explanation, no genuine apology and the "thank you for your patience" sounded automated. At breakfast, the fruits were stale and almost spoilt. When I informed the waitress she took away the slices of watermelon and carried them in her hand. Expecting a replacement, none came. Neither an apology. At the end of breakfast, we asked if we would be receiving a replacement or alternative (since we were paying the same amount), Miss waitress rolled her eyes, pouted her mouth and asked reluctantly "what would you like to have?". Really?? Dover beach you need to do better than that. From the front desk to the "restaurant" at the back of the hotel, customer service is a stranger. Training in hospitality is needed or get better staff!

If you like walking to a coffee shop every morning and trying out great restaurants then this is a good location. The hotel itself is quite tired but kept clean. Our room was facing the ocean and you can't manufacture that view. It is spectacular. The kitchenette is very limiting. You could pull of a simple breakfast with cereal/toast and a cold lunch. There is NO OVEN and the stove has to be lit with a match. One day our fridge turned off so we had to through out some juice. When we got there we had to ask for a coffee maker. We ended up not using it because the Cake Lady was a short walk away and they makes great cappuccinos. The bed was no uncomfortable but lacked in sheeting and blankets. The textiles we shabby and need to be replaced. In a pinch I would stay there again but only for a short time. ( 3 days)

Additionally, you can request a toaster oven, a coffee maker and blankets. Our beds are made with a defender. 2 sheets and a coverlet. We think that is adequate coverage .With our position near to the sea we are forced to have a continuous maintenance program as the sea air can have a devastating effect on the building. My wife and I had a great 3 day stay at Dover Beach Hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. There is a beautiful pool on site. The beach was very nice!! Lots of options for dining within walking distance. We are recommending Dover Beach Hotel to my wife's sister whom will be coming to Barbados in April.

First time to Barbados so first impressions are what sets your stay. The taxi service that we had from the airport was pricy since they wanted $20.00 US that’s $40.00 Barbados a little steep. This service works for the resort. The restaurant has a limited menu but it is easier to pay by credit card since they love to take the US money and give their money in exchange. The staff was very attentive and polite. Security is good. House keeping is very respectful and they do a good job. This is an older beach hotel but needs some upgrades. They do a good job keeping it clean.

Great hotel, friendly staff too. Accommodation very spacious. Little kitchen area could have been better stocked with Pans, but wouldn’t put us off coming again.

All staff were very friendly and took care of any requests / issues immediately. The hotel and room are was very clean. Room was quiet but somewhat dated. I’d say this is typical for a 3* property. Within walking distance of the restaurants in St Lawrence Gap, however the better choices are about 1.5km away. Right on the beach with beach chairs on hand. Would recommend if you’re looking for an affordable stay.
