"Our stay at Jungle Soul Hotel was not good. I would not recommend that others stay there. I booked a double room for two, and the pictures were misleading. The room was damp and dirty. I tried not to touch anything. The shower didn't stay upright to shower underneath. The roof on one side of the bathroom was only a plastic sheeting, so it was loud at night. We also had geckos and frogs in the room. On the second night, the bathroom started to smell of sewage. It was so bad that we could not stay in the room. They had to move everyone from the ground floor to the rooms on the first floor. Thankfully, the first-floor rooms were free; otherwise, we would have had to go to another hotel. The first-floor room was nicer, with a tiny balcony (not enough room to sit and enjoy) and a decent shower, but it was right beneath the restaurant, so again, it was very noisy at night and early in the morning. The restaurant had a nice vibe, was decorated well, and was generally much more pleasant than being in the rooms! It feels like you're in the jungle with all the lovely greenery around. The breakfast was tasty, but there were limited options for those staying there. The restaurant was a 3-star, the rooms on the first floor were 2-star, and the rooms on the ground floor were 1-star. It was pretty cheap, but I could get much nicer elsewhere for the same price! Overall, could eat here but not sleep."

"Sehr schöne Lage am Strand gelegen und Personal auch freundlich! Sehr ärgerlich, jede Nacht bis 3.00 Uhr laute Musik und Wochenende sogar bis 6.00 morgens, Vorhänge kann man nicht ganz zu ziehen, sodass um halb 7 schon die sonne reinscheint, wird richtig heiss dass zimmer, dass man nicht mehr schlafen kann"

"Man wird gleich herzlich mit einem Drink begrüßt, das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel liegt direkt mit einem Infinity Pool am Strand. Das Zimmer ist geräumig, ist aber langsam ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. In der Naehe gibt es viele Essensmöglichkeiten"

"The hotel is a little oasis in a historic building close by the fort. We had a church room with a very high ceiling and one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever had. There were quite a few mosquitoes, but luckily, the bed had a net. The meal prices are expensive for Sri Lanka but the pavlova was excellent. The building really has character and I can see why it appeared in Condé Nast Traveller. Although small, we really enjoyed the coolness of the swimming pool. We were even able to get a free late checkout. As for the location: you can very easily walk to the fort and then make your way around the city to the lighthouse and walk back through the center (best time is sunset). Overall, we were very happy and would highly recommend this hotel. "
