The Hotel Le Corbusier is an architect's paradise affording a unique experience in this vertical city. With tremendous views to the sea and the mountains, the whole block is remarkably well preserved and has retained its integrity as an experimental way of being. The hotel must be applauded for its authenticity and for trying to keep the spirit of Le Corbusier alive.
Don't be put off by the hotel's eccentric service. Marseilles is a wonderful city, and we received a warm welcome everywhere else. The hotel is an idiosyncracy, charming and rude at the same time! The building is the real star attraction.
The service is odd, very clipped and quite unlike what you might expect. We were told to hurry up and eat our breakfast in five minutes, despite arriving during the hours of service. We were told off for accidentally placing our one allocated croissant on the tray provided. On arrival, they told us we were early even though we only came to drop off bags. Rooms were cleaned during breakfast so it was awkward to return.
Don't let the service put you off, the building is definitely worth the visit.
