Overall, a potentially amazing holiday destination for families let down by horrendous service. This resort is billed as a 5 star and, particularly during peak season, is extremely pricey compared to relative options in and around Phuket. As such this review carries a certain level of ‘entitlement’ which we feel is justified given the 5 star billing and price level.
Pros: The large family pool layout is fantastic and the most alluring attraction of the property. We stayed in a pool-side villa with families in other villas around the pool and from this perspective we could not have wished for more. The facilities were excellent (the Splash Zone is great for families, particularly with very young children). The spa was amazing but pricey on a Thailand scale. The breakfast buffet was nice.
Cons: Service was by far and away the major failing of the property, which unfortunately exacerbated minor issues into major ones without needing to (and major ones into crisis ones). The boat transfers were mis-reported and mis-communicated, they tried making us wait for an hour in the heat with 6 kids even though they had sent confirmation of an earlier transfer. Lots of waiting around to be taken to our rooms with luggage. Items included in the booking were not honoured. The quality of the food was just ok. Staffing was poor quality and there was no front of house manager to deal with anything.
In summary, this could be a great property but the service quality was terrible.
