Pub mit Zimmern
Ich war in einem separaten Gebäude mit Zugang direkt vom Parkplatz untergebracht. Das Zimmer war ok und sauber. Der Handtuchhalter im Bad zeigte allerdings ein oder zwei Spinnweben, und die Matratze war wohl schon etwas älter (die Sprungfedern waren deutlich spürbar). Für eine Nacht ok.

Die Ankunft und Einchecken war unkompliziert, der Inn war voller Leute und es war dort sehr gemütlich. Es hat uns gleich gefallen.

Leider musste ich extrem schlechten Service erleben und von Sauberkeit kann keine Rede sein. Bei meinem Check in hatte die Mitarbeiterin versäumt mir mitzuteilen, dass ich während meines Aufenthalts das Zimmer wechseln muss. Da war die Überraschung groß, als ich am Abend zurück ins Hotel kam und in meinem Zimmer ein anderer war. Meine sämtlichen Sachen waren fort. An der Tür hing ein Zettel, dass ich mich am Tresen (weil das Hotel eigentlich ein Pub ist) melden soll. Als ich versuchte in das Pub zu gelangen, war die Tür versperrt. Nun musste ich über den Hinterausgang raus, der übrigens über den verdreckten Müllplatz inklusive offen aufgestellter Rattenfalle führt, aber als ich vorne beim Pub ankam, war alles dunkel. Es war niemand mehr da! Nur durch Zufall fand ich auf dem Parkplatz eine rauchende Bedienung die gerade dabei war heim zu gehen. Sie holte dann also die "Chefin" zurück die schon im Auto unterwegs war, sodass ich doch noch einen Schlüssel und mein Zimmer bekam und überhaupt mal an meine Sachen. Das Kommentar war, das ich hätte durch die Mitarbeiterin beim Check in informiert werden sollen. Sowas schlechtes ist mir noch nicht untergekommen!!! Zumal auch die Zimmer verdreckt waren. Nicht gesaugt, nicht Staub gewischt und die Bäder sehr dreckig. Wer also nicht seine Hoteltoilette zur Begrüßung selbst putzen will und auch keine Lust hat über den Müllplatz oder durch eine Kneipe in sein Zimmer zu gelangen, sollte sich etwas anderes suchen. Nicht zu empfehlen.

lovely weekend at the Star. it’s a pub and a busy one at that with rooms. That said the accommodation is clean and comfortable and offers good value for money. it is well patronised for meals by the locals. staff were pleasant and helpful. Good base for weekends

Barely slept due to noisy water pipe by window
We stopped over the night before our flight from Gatwick and unfortunately we did not sleep well in Room 8. When we retired to bed we discovered that right outside our room window was an overflow pipe of some sort which was flooding water from a height of roughly 6 feet onto the roof beneath. The noise from constant splashing prevented us from sleeping for hours and woke us frequently. By this time, staff had left the building so we were left to cope with it. While it was raining some of the night, in the morning we found the rain had stopped yet gallons of water continued to gush continuously from this pipe. Whatever this outlet pipe is for, a proper downpipe desperately needs to be fitted so that the water falls gently onto the roof beneath. It is such a shame because other than that issue the room was a decent size, nicely furnished and decorated, equipped with a good size TV and large bathroom complete with bath. And the pub downstairs was nice with great staff. On arriving at The Star Inn and seeing the pub and room we really felt we had found our “go to” hotel when travelling from Gatwick, but given the lack of sleep, we’re now not so sure. Perhaps if we had some assurances the downpipe had been installed and could sleep.

Noisy extractor stopped us from sleeping .
There was some sort of extraction unit outside the window in the courtyard below noise level unbearable it didn’t stop until the food service was over after 10pm and started next morning very early for the service of breakfast we presumed . Never again !

Nice accommodation but alas the bed was too small, I’m 6’4 and with the wooden frame I did not fit also the shower is very small size and does not fit the bigger guy.

Stayed at the star in for airport run following a airport run. Nice comfortable and food was surperb. There was a lot of plane traffic during the night but didn't really bother me. I skipped the shower as was totally rubbish. The down side was it was a hot and sunny day and there were people smoking down below which caused smoke to drift into room. Maybe smoking tables should be removed away from accommodation or totally banned all together. Apart from that it was a nice stay and will return

Great value budget accommodation
The Star Inn is in a lovely location in an up market location. Lingfield has great facilities and is the perfect base for exploring the many attractions of the area. The rooms in the exterior block to the side of the main building are compact but have everything you need. Decor is simple, clean, modern and crisp. Wi-Fi works well and the rooms have tea/coffee, tv, hair dryer etc and comfotable beds. The Inn itself has good food and a great range of drinks including local ales. The breakfast at £10 is great value. You get cerals, juice, toast and preserves, tea/coffee and a full cooked breakfast. We had the vegetarian breakfast and it was superb. Everything perfectly cooked with great quality ingredients. There is so much to explore and see in this area and we would happily return here as a base. Good value accommodation is hard to find in this part of the country and this place is a gem that combines value with quality and great, friendly service. Highly reccommended.

We booked as had an early flight from Gatwick. Parking was very limited as we came on the night of a very popular pub quiz. Our room was a great size with a good bathroom. It was quite noisy, but that's to be expected above a busy pub, once the pub was closed it was quiet.

Stayed for one night after attending a wedding a few miles down the road. A nice little location and a well presented room. Some minor maintenance needed but doesn’t necessarily affect the use of anything e.g. shower head didn’t stay still and some cardboard had been wedged into the holder awaiting replacement. It’s a given that the owners are trying to keep the building as original as possible (which is great), however may need to give the window fittings a little attention as an open gap was seen to be present when windows were closed and on latch. This also lead to outside noise penetrating through to the room, especially people in the pub downstairs and aeroplanes passing. There is an easy entrance/exit for when the pub is closed, however means passing the bin stores and having easier access to gas bottles, etc. could maybe look at sectioning this off a little more where possible. I would look to stay here again, however wouldn’t look to stay for more than one night.

Lovely place; lovely people. My stay was very brief, check in late afternoon and out very early the next morning, but in that short space of time I experienced the great hospitality of the staff. They were willing to go beyond the call of duty and help me get to the airport very early the next morning, including the staff member who woke up at 5.00am to help me get my suitcase down the stairs and waited with me for the taxi, which they had organized the night before, to pick me up. The room was very beautiful. The dinner downstairs in the pub was enjoyable.

Cleanliness not very good
Cheap hotel ok for a one night stay. Staff were friendly and the pub is nice but the room was not cleaned very well (cobwebs, spiders, flies, dust) and the beds squeaked if you moved even a cm. The mattress was old and had no support. At the right price for one night give it a go but I wouldn't recommend it for any longer.

Great find 10 mins from racecourse
This was a really great find, 10 mins walk from the racecourse. Room was spotless and we slept well. Lovely beer garden, staff were friendly and helpful, food was delicious. Great value for money, will return.
