Bestimmt das beste Hotel bei unserer Island Rundreise. Sehr freundliches Personal, super leckeres Frühstück und trotz eines Brandalarmes um 4:00 Uhr früh war unser Aufenthalt hier perfekt. Die Umgebung ist wunderschön und lädt zu vielen Spaziergängen ein. Beim nächsten mal Island werden wir auf alle Fälle dieses Hotel wieder buchen.

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt im Fosshotel. Es liegt direkt an der Küste. Unser Zimmer war mit Blick auf das Meer, was ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen würde. Das Abendessen war auch sehr lecker. Beim Frühstück hat es an nichts gefehlt. Das Personal war sehr nett. Die Dame an der Rezeption bei unserer Abreise war sogar aus Deutschland und hat uns auf die Orcas aufmerksam gemacht.

Nice and cosy room with views on the mountains. Great breakfast buffet with all options (warm and cold). Path to the ocean trail behind the hotel. Everything excellent. But there was one very disappointing thing about the employees on the front desk and the restaurant. We reserved a table for dinner in the restaurant after breakfast. In the evening there was no free table in the restaurant even though we had a reservation. There were no excuses about this. Only that they can’t do anything. So we had to drive 30 min to the restaurant of Budir Hotel. We could highly recommend this restaurant in Budir. The food and service was high class.

Schönes, einladendes und gemütliches Hotel.
Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Fosshotel sehr genossen. Das Hotel ist gemütlich und einladend, das Personal sehr freundlich, die Lage ist Top für Tagesausflüge auf Snaefellsnes und der eindrückliche Wanderweg nach Arnastapi beginnt praktisch vor der Haustüre. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr reichhaltig und gut. 4/5 Sterne bei Einrichtung => das Waschbecken im Bad ist etwas klein. 4/5 => Sterne bei Komfort des Zimmer => Das Zimmer war nicht das geräumigste. Aber hey, wen intressierts, alles in allem ein klares 5/5 im Gesamtpaket :-)

Super Hotel für Ausflüge. Wenn man an das „richtige“ Personal kommt, sehr hilfsbereit. (Info zu Polarlichter, sogar Info aufs Zimmer wenn es los geht).

Hübsches Hotel am Rande des Nationalparks
Abgesehen davon, dass das Zimmer nicht vorgeheizt war, hatten wir einen sehr angenehmen aufenthalt in einem sehr schönen Hotel. Man kann in der Nähe einige hübsche Orte im Nationalpark besuchen.

Vom Restaurant aus hat man einen schönen Blick aufs Meer. Die Zimmer sind tip top, jedoch könnten die Rohre mal durchgeputzt werden da der Abfluss in der Dusche ein wenig gerochen hat.

There are no places to dine in the area other than the hotel. They are quite pushy to get you to eat dinner and breakfast there. There are no facilities to prepare your own food which is quite frustrating and shocking because everywhere else we’ve stayed has options. They have signs in the room telling you to not cook or else you’ll be fined. For the price you pay they really need to accommodate all kinds of travellers. You’re not going to be able to stop people from preparing their own food so help accommodate them. I don’t want to spend 7000 on some beef and potatoes. Overall check in was easy. Wish there was easy access from the outside because our room was down stairs and it was difficult to carry luggage down there. Room was a decent size wish it was a little bigger, and bathroom had a heated flood which was nice. Overall found it overpriced for what it was but it was a decent stay.

Dear Guest, thank you for taking your time to review your stay with us. We really appreciate any kind of feedback and take it serious. As we are located on the very tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, next to the National Park, indeed we are the only location to have some food in the tiny village of Hellnar. Nevertheless there is a small village near by (Arnarstapi, 2 km distance) where there are 2-3 more restaurants or diner, which are open, depending on the season you are travelling. However, October is already off-season and many places as restaurants, hotels, guesthouses are closing down for the winter. As we are a 3 star-hotel with a onsite restaurant, it is very obvious that we do not have any facilities for cooking nor do we allow any cooking in our rooms due to fire hazard. If you wish to cook your own meals, please chose a guesthouse with cooking facilities or a holiday home / AirBnB as we are pretty sure that no hotel with an onsite restaurant worldwide will allow own cooking on their property. If you found our questions for breakfast or dinner pushy, we apologize. We only asked politely, if you have been interested in breakfast, since you booked a room with out breakfast or dinner since we are usually busy in the evening with dinner guests from our hotel and walk ins. We only wanted to make sure you get a table at a time which would suit you. However we thank you for your stay and hope you will have a great time traveling in Iceland. Best regards,

We stayed in 8 different hotels during our trip to Iceland and Fosshotel Hellnar was probably our favorite. Great location, comfortable rooms, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We would definitely return to this hotel.

The staff was excellent. They rushed the cleaning of room to accommodate the lack of sleep we were experiencing. Not disabled friendly. No ramps and parking lot gravel. Cannot use cane in gravel, fear of falling. No space to move on either side of bed. Had to hold wall to squish thru.

Not worth the money, no focus on allergies
Beautiful location and friendlt staff at reseption, BUT :We had a room that was close to the washing mashines, they were noisy. Also, the door to the bathroom stuck several times, and the door to the shower didnt work properly. We told reseption immedeately, we were told they would speak with someone, nothing happend. Also the person serving in the dining room didnt know how to handle allergies, and there were no alternatives for bread and dessert for people with nut allergies. All in all: low standard compered to price: NOT worth the money

The hotel was fairly comfortable and it was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small and not much space for storage. Very warm in the rooms and windows only opened a small amount. Alarm went off in the middle of the night, which caused confusion as sleepy travelers stood in the halls and lounge with no direction. Might have been nice to offer complimentary breakfast due to us all getting disturbed sleep!

The room was quite small and was lacking any type of non-basic amenities. The bathroom was very old and small. The restaurant was quite expensive, not much choice and rather mediocre food

One of very few hotel options in the Hellnar area the hotel is convenient to all you want to do in the area. The room was a little worn and basic. The restaurant, however, is terrific and a welcome find in this rural location.
