I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your recent stay with us. You are right, ‘Nevis View’ is not a hotel, it is our home & we have never promoted it as anything but a B&B. Might I suggest that you look up the definition of a B&B on Wikipedia, as you do not seem to understand the concept? After you booked to stay at ' Nevis View' on Sept. 18th, you were sent an email on Sept. 9th to thank you for your booking and to let you know that Check-in is offered between 17.00 and 19.00, together with the Check-out timing of 10.00 (not 09.30) the following morning. Unfortunately, you appear not to have read the email, as you arrived at 15.00, some two hours earlier than you were expected. This is why we couldn’t Check you in there and then, even though you had booked accommodation, as we had to go out to do some essential shopping. We did not know you or anything about you & we are not in the habit of inviting total strangers into our home & then leaving them to their own devices without us being here, just two minutes later. Would you do this in your own home? I very much doubt it. We were home a little after 17.00, delayed by very heavy traffic which you later commented on, for which I should like to apologise. However, when I knocked on the window of your car, you were not asleep, you were wide awake & looking at your phone. Because you subsequently booked a second night (Sept. 17th) some days after the first, you were not informed that we ask our guests to go out by 10.00 each morning & to not return before 17.00, which we always do when more than one night is booked at the same time. This was an oversight, & I should like to apologise once more, that you were not aware of this before you arrived. We serve Breakfast from 07.30 to 09.00 every morning, which is a considerably longer period than other B&Bs offer – an hour and a half timescale is not “a business tactic to skimp on serving food” & I’m amazed that you should even think this! You had plenty of time after booking your accommodation in which to get in touch & let us know you were climbing the Ben & to ask for an early Breakfast, which with advance notice, could have been possible & something that has been offered to other walkers/climbers in the past. I am not to know what each guest intends doing once they arrive, so communication is vital! You decided not to have Breakfast that first morning although I offered to have it ready for you on the dot of 07.30 as you'd arranged to meet a friend at that time. When you returned late on Saturday afternoon, you were so exhausted by your trek that you opted for Breakfast at the latest timing the following morning. Everything was prepared & ready for you at 09.00, but you didn't appear until 09.20, told me you weren't going to have Breakfast & left shortly afterwards. To say we are abrupt is not true, & you are not correct either in saying we don't have an extensive knowledge of the area, as we have lived here for well over 40 years. We cannot
