Our room had a nice 4-poster-bed. Our companion was upgraded from single to double room. The hotel is located in a zone that cannot normally be accessed by cars, but in the evening ist was still possible for unloading. There is parking available near the hotel at additional cost. The breakfast (continental style) was nice and rich, the staff competent and friendly. We would come back.

In the centre of Canterbury, a lovely place to stay. Continental breakfast with high quality coffee. Very friendly staff. I highly recommend it. I’ve stayed 4 nights.

Historisches Altstadthotel - sehr gute, ruhige Lage in Canterbury. Viel Atmosphäre, aber begrenzter Komfort, wie in englischen Altstadthotels vielfach üblich: kein Fahrstuhl, sondern steile, schmale Treppe. Zimmer in Ordnung, Service personalabhängig: von diensteifrig bis gleichgültig. Frühstück englischer Durchschnitt.

I booked the cheapest room, it was small but cosy on this cold December night. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless so was very pleased. Breakfast included was continental and a very nice buffet was laid out with lots of different food to choose from. Staff were very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Overall great value, enjoyed my stay and highly recommend.

The Pilgrim
This is an old hotel located in the center of Canterbury - very close to everything. The narrow stairs are a bit of a challenge, but the room was very nice.

Great Place to Stay in the Centre of Canterbury
Truly wonderful. If you need somewhere to stay in Canterbury the Pilgrim is for you. Its in the centre not close to it. It is the centre. Opposite the Theatre. Just a short walk from the Cathedral and dozens of pubs; cafes and restaurants. Great staff. Whats not to like.

A long stay in Canterbury
Very conveniently located and only short distances to most of the sites of Canterbury. Be aware there is no hot food available but a good continental breakfast is. Very helpful staff. Car parking is a few minutes walk away and when we stayed (June 2023) it cost £14 for 24hrs. Nice places to eat and drink nearby.

It’s not just a location which is amazing, it’s straight up everything about this hotel. Laundry service which doesn’t cost you an arm & a leg which is almost always a case in hotels - is a huge plus. And a strong wifi signal adds a lot of value.

Disappointing, especially after a high rating.
Very central location, good for walking to everything but that comes with lots of noise, especially at night with bars close by. No air conditioning, and sleeping with the windows open isn’t an option. The building is wrapped with scaffolding so we had no view and the first day there was banging and workers walking past our window. We asked the hotel not to pre-charge our credit card because of the poor exchange but they charged our full stay the day before we arrived. The room (#5) on the top floor, up narrow and steep stairs, was adequate but there was a terrible smell coming from the plumbing in the bathroom - so bad we slept with that door closed. The pillows were thin slabs of foam. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast is perfectly adequate. They offered toast which was a nice touch. The inside renovations they are doing to the lobby and the bar are lovely so maybe one day the room will be improved but we would not stay here again.

Nice and comfy!
This hotel had something we lacked in other hotels, water pressure! We would wash our hair and have a nice shower. We slept as logs even though the bed was only 140 and we shared the duvet. And the breakfast was really good, much more than we expected. Lots of friendly faces and service-minded personnel! The location very central! We'll be back!

Great central location.
Lovely characterful property in a great location just off the main shopping street and a 5 minute walk to the cathedral. We paid for parking through the hotel at an off site car park. Friendly helpful staff. Our room was quiet as it was towards the back of the hotel.

Awkward to get to as it's within the pedestrian centre which has no vehicle access till after 4pm. So, you have to walk from one of the many nearby car parks. Check-in was quick but no lift to the first floor. We got a room upgrade which was appreciated. When we returned to the hotel at 10:30pm the bar was closed so we had to go out to a nearby pub for a drink. The included breakfast is continental with no cooked options. We asked about the advertised parking charges at checkout and were told we should have requested this at check-in, the rate had also changed and there was no information on which car park we should have used. However, the hotel is in a great location so it's worth calling before arrival to discover the best parking options.

Very clean, delightful helpful staff, terrific breakfast, extremely well situated in the centre of Canterbury. Wonderful value. Single room was very small but bathroom was modern and fine. No lift but we didn’t need one. Main problem was not the hotel’s fault. One of us had recently had surgery and it was impossible to get anywhere near with the car. Dragging a suitcase was a problem for her. Canterbury isn’t easy if you are disabled!

Great location in city centre and quiet. Very clean. Pleasant staff. Good value considering its central location. However, the rooms are very small and the breakfast while sufficient consists only of cold items i.e. no cooked food is available. Basically, it is a bed and breakfast hotel although there are many places nearby to eat.

Our room was charming, overlooking a busy and central street, clean and comfortable. The staff was great -- particularly Blake, who served us breakfast and was a knowledgeable and interesting (and an aspiring archaeologist as well). The one reservation is breakfast -- wonderful and delicious coffee, and an array of continental offerings (pastry, fruit, cereals, yogurt). But not a full breakfast.
