We stayed in DWYKA Lodge We've choose The safari was a huge disappointment we had to drive miles to see some of the animals, mostly from a long distance.

Optisch eine schöne Anlage, aber...
Die DWYKA Tented Lodge selbst war optisch super und die Zelte am Ende eines Tals total gemütlich. Am Tag der Anreise hatten wir schon um 16 Uhr eine Safari, die ca. 3 Stunden ging und unser Ranger Jannie hat das gut gemacht. Das Abendessen war allerdings schon grenzwertig. Der Game Drive am nächsten Morgen um 5:30 Uhr war noch gut. Wir haben ein Löwenrudel gesehen, das offensichtlich an dem Morgen ein Zebra erlegt hatte. Wieder zurück in der Lodge gab es Frühstück und ich habe mir dermaßen den Magen verdorben, dass ich bereits mittags mit Fieber im Bett lag. Die nächste Nacht habe ich nur mit einem starken Schmerzmittel und Schlaftablette überstanden und wir sind dann sofort abgereist. Anmerkung: Sanbona gaukelt Game Drives unter natürlichen Bedingungen vor. Dem ist aber bei Weitem nicht so. Die Löwen und Geparde und Elefanten werden aufgrund von Zucht- und Pflegeprogrammen mit Sendern ausgerüstet und entsprechend bei Fahrten geortet. Die Anzahl an Antilopen, Giraffen, Elefanten, etc. ist sehr gering und deshalb ist aus meiner Sicht Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in der kleinen Karoo auch nur für Anfänger geeignet.

Dear Manfred I hope this e-mail finds you well. We are sorry to hear that your stay at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve was not up to your expectation. Due to the semi-arid vegetation on the property it does not allow us to have vast amounts of game as you would find in a vegetation intense area such as Kruger. Besides the game viewing we also encourage our guests to experience the flora, rock art, fossils and star gazing which all combine to form a very special experience. A small percentage of our game do have collars which are used for gathering information on migration, feeding and breeding patterns due to the vast expanse of our 58 000 hectare property. Ausgezeichnetes Safari-Erlebnis
Ein großer Vorteil von Sanbona ist die "Nähe" zu Kapstadt - konkret binnen rund 4 Stunden mit dem Auto errreichbar. Unser Zelt in der Dwyka Tented Lodge war in Top-Zustand und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Highlight waren natürlich die 2x täglich stattfindenden Pirschfahrten mit unserem tollen Ranger Owen - ich Morgenmuffel bin freilwillig um 4.30 Uhr aufgestanden um zeitgerecht im Auto zu sitzen. Das sagt alles!

Atemberaubendes Game Reserve
Wir waren 3 Tage in der Tented Lodge und sind immer noch restlos begeistert. Besser geht es kaum! Beginnend mit der freundlichen Begrüßung und einer umfassenden Einweisung bis hin zu den wirklich wunderschönen "Zelten" in denen es an Komfort nicht mangelt. Highlight waren natürlich die Game Drives mit Gerhard - einen besseren Ranger kann man sich nicht wünschen! Auch das Essen und der "Weinkeller" ist top! Dazu ein sehr abwechslungsreiches Rahmenprogramm, unter anderem mit einem wundervollen BBQ unter freiem Himmel. So etwas in der Nähe von Kapstadt erleben zu dürfen ist einmalig und uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert!

Ein Safari-Traum
Sanbona ist ein Traum. Wir waren leider nur 1 Nacht, ich würde jedem 2 Nächte empfehlen und nicht sich vom Preis abschrecken lassen, jeder Euro lohnt sich. Das Team ist sehr freundlich, man hat 2 Safari-Touren: eine morgens um 6:30 Uhr und eine Nachmittags in den Sonnenuntergang und es ist einfach nur wunderschön. Wir sahen Löwen, Elephanten, Kudus, Antilopen, Giraffen, Büffel und vieles mehr. Unser Ranger Chris hat so viele tolle Infos zu den Tieren gegeben. So stellt man sich eine Safari vor. Das Essen in Tilney Manor war wunderbar und nach der Abendfahrt, kam man verfroren in sein Zimmer in dem der Kamin an war und liebevoll die Betten aufgedeckt waren. Rundherum toll!!!! Leider zu kurz bei uns.

Ein wunderschönes Plätzchen, mitten im Reservat. Wir schliefen in der Gondwana Lodge. Stefan, der Lodge Leiter hat sich wahnsinnig gut um uns gekümmert, organisierte uns ganz viele 'Extrawünsche' da wir von einem Unfall noch sehr lediert waren und machte uns den Aufenthalt unvergesslich. Die Zimmer sind wirklich etwas für Detail- und Designverliebte. Ich habe noch nie besser geschlafen. Wirklich für ganz hohe Ansprüche gedacht. Ein absolutes Muss, wenn man sich einmal etwas ganz besonderes leisten möchte :)

Fazit (Tilney Manor): + Riesige Zimmer + Sehr guter Service + Sehr sauber + Gutes Essen + Tolle Game Drives + Nette kompetente Ranger + kostenlose Sauna und Dampfbad + Schöner Garten und Außenpool + super leckerer Kakao Tip: => Optimal sind 2 Tage Aufenthalt => Fernglas mit 20 bis 30 facher Vergrößerung => Fotoapperat mit gutem Teleobjektiv Es waren 2 unvergessliche Tage in einem schönen Reservat. Das Reservat ist riesig und wir sind vom Tor bis zur Lodge noch etwa 30km Schotterpiste gefahren. Der Emfang am Tilney Manor war herzlich, und der Check-In schnell und unkompliziert. Tilney Manor hat nur 6 Zimmer und somit Platz für 12 Personen. Die Zimmer sind gigantisch Gross (einfach luxeriös). Da es Winter war, waren die elektrischen Wärmedecken im Bett sehr nett. Frühstück, Mittagsmenü und Abendmenü waren inklusive, Getränke muss man später extra bezahlen. Das Essen war allgemein recht gut und sehr sehr reichlich. Da wir eine Nacht die Alleinigen Gäste waren, hatte man uns einen Tisch direkt am Kamin eingerichtet.

Highlight of our trip
This was without doubt the best part of our two week stay in the Cape Area. We stayed in the Tilney Manor part of the reserve in one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in. There were only 6 couples in the Tilney Manor so it was very personalised service. The staff including the guides were excellent as was the food. We were only there two nights but packed in so much. We did four drives in the Game reserve and got very close to a host of animals. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.

Stay here....you won't be disappointed!!
An absolute amazing stay from beginning to end!! We stayed in one of the tents and it was absolutely gorgeous!! The service was top notch and a big thank you to Julio who took such good care of us in the dining room! The Safari's were incredible with Josh as our guide. He had such passion and was so interesting and knowledgeable. My only regret was that we were only there for one night. This was definitely one of the main highlights on our 3 week vacation in south Africa!

Amazing game reserve
We had just the best time at Sanbona we stayed in the Tilney part of which at the most is 12 people it feels very exclusive. Our rooms were just magnificent it was a shame we didn’t have more than one night. The reserve is huge but feels like a proper game reserve hunting for the animals is a true Safari experience. The staff were all very friendly and the game drives were fun. Keep up the good work can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I had the most memorable experience at Sanbona. There are truly no words to describe how much we enjoyed our time at the reserve. The service at the lodge was impeccable, the room was gorgeous, and our guide on the game drives was extremely knowledgable. Even more, Sanbona is clearly committed to sustainability. I cannot recommend Sanbona enough!!

The Reserve is amazing! The rooms were gorgeous, the food excellent and the staff were all friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Our guide, Chris, was incredible, extremely knowledgeable about all of the wildlife and he went out of his way to make sure we saw all of the animals. It was a wonderful experience!

Amazing!
Amazing resort! We enjoyed it all; First if all the experience, the beautiful nature and the game drives. The hotel room was tasteful and spacious, we had a private balcony too gaze into the stars at night. The service was good and the food tasteful. The only thing that was slightly inconvenient, a modern world problem, as the resort is so far away from civilization, the WiFi could need an upgrade as there were only WiFi at public areas, and the connection was limited, no cellular connection to post those amazing pictures.
