"Das Queen of the Loch ist ein kleines und gemütliches Hotel mit freundlicher Atmosphäre. Wir waren als Familie mit zwei Kleinkindern unterwegs und hatten ein Zimmer mit einem Doppelbett und zwei Einzelbetten. Das Hotel besteht aus zwei Gebäuden. Unser Zimmer befand sich im ersten Stock. Zu beachten ist, dass das Hotel über keinen Aufzug verfügt. Mit viel Gepäck oder kleinen Kindern kann das etwas umständlich sein. Die Zimmer waren zudem sehr staubig. Kostenlose Parkplätze stehen direkt am Hotel zur Verfügung, was sehr praktisch ist. Die Lage eignet sich hervorragend als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge zum Loch Lomond, den man mit dem Auto in wenigen Minuten erreicht. Im Hotel befindet sich ein eigenes Restaurant. Dort wird ein kontinentales Frühstücksbuffet für 6,75 £ pro Person angeboten. Gegen Aufpreis können weitere Frühstücksoptionen hinzugebucht werden. Wir haben außerdem dort zu Abend gegessen und waren mit der Qualität des Essens sehr zufrieden. Insgesamt ein gemütliches Hotel mit gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und einer günstigen Lage für Ausflüge rund um Loch Lomond. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ein nach dem Check-out vergessenes Kleidungsstück wurde schnell gefunden und für uns aufbewahrt, sodass wir es später problemlos abholen konnten."

"Die Pots waren okay. Sie sind relativ neu und deshalb noch in gutem Zustand. Man mekrt jedoch, dass sie sehr feucht sind (der Boden wellt sich bereits, die Scheiben beschlagen). Weiss also nicht wie lang es hält. Die Unterkunft war ansonsten aber sauber. Tolles Kaffee (St. Mocha) direkt nebenan :)"
Duck Bay Hotel

"If you’re after a stunning view, Duck Bay certainly delivers – the loch is breathtaking. Sadly, that’s where the charm ends. The rest feels like a duck decoy: glossy on the surface, but hollow underneath. Reception staff weren’t rude, but they might as well have been automated – check-in and check-out were delivered in flat monotone, and no one seemed to care that my stay was merely “okay.” The room was basic, with decor so synthetic it practically quacked of plastic. The smell of it lingered until I opened the patio doors – but that just invited in mosquitos. The bathroom was worse: black mould in the shower, a glass shelf that made every bottle placed on it slide off, and water pressure so weak it barely qualified as a shower. To top it off, music from the deserted outdoor area blared into the night. Reception had already shut by 9pm, so I had to call the restaurant to have it turned down. Duck Bay may look the part, but for the price of a supposedly three-star hotel, it’s all plastic feathers and no real duck. I won’t be paddling back."

"It should really be a 5 tar hotel but let’s itself down in too many ways. Positives: The building is beautiful. The gardens and surroundings the equal of anywhere I have stayed. Negatives: The swimming pool is the most horrendously over chlorinated pool I have been in this side of 1990. End result from using it is a severe ear infection. The decor is nice enough in a traditionally kitsch Scottish fashion, but looking a little dated. The food was okay, but nothing you won’t get in any decent pub in the UK. The continental breakfast was, by a distance, the poorest value for money breakfast I have ever paid for. We were a little late going down(9:15am) and at that stage all that remained was a couple of options for cerial, 3 croissants, and a handful of tiny pancakes. Given a few other tables joined around the same time, this didn’t go far, and it took far longer than it really should have to top up what was there, and that top up wasn’t a huge amount more than what was there when we first walked in. That said, our breakfast was probably more enjoyable than the couple who asked for a table next to one of the windows and were told thy couldn’t sit there as the tables were still dirty, and were then told that the kitchen was unable to cook an omelette. I have stayed at other McDonald Hotels and they have been excellent, but this one was a let down. It wouldn’t take a huge amount of time and effort to make it worth its name."

"The hotel was in all aspects not recommendable: reception staff were uninterested and slow, service overall lackluster. Room super warm and windows don't open properly such that it didn't even cool down over night (AC is not available). Room was towards the road and very noisy. The whole hotel clearly has seen better days and in many places is just old. Breakfast was OK."
