Basically a nice hotel. A few things could be improved: There is no storage space for things in the bathroom. Lack of hooks or bars to hang bathroom towels. The save was not functional. The room made a newly renovated impression, but unfortunately with the above missing details.

Sehr sehr mittelmäßig und nach den ganzen sehr guten Bewertungen eine große Enttäuschung. Waren bei unseren Stationen vorher und nachher in günstigeren Hotels die deutlich besser waren. Aber von Anfang an: Begrüßung von einer sehr freundlichen jungen Dame, Zimmer ebenerdig, man musste die Fensterklappen immer geschlossen halten weil sonst jeder hätte reingucken können („Durchgangsverkehr“ der anderen Gäste), lüften war nur möglich in dem man die Tür offen lässt, da man die Fenster nicht öffnen konnte. Weißes, grelles Licht im Bad und am Bett, gemütlich geht anders. Das Zimmer selbst war geräumig und mit allem ausgestattet was man so braucht. Bad und Dusche waren Sauber aber die Schiebetür der Dusche hat extrem laut und unangenehm gequietscht. Frühstück: lausig! Man sagte uns wir könnten uns setzen wo wir wollen, als ich dass dann tun wollte wurde ich von der Kellnerin richtig dumm angezickt. Ich habe nicht weiter was dazu gesagt und mich eben wo anders hingesetzt. Danach besprach die Kellnerin neben mir mit ihrer Kollegin mein Fehlverhalten, so weit so unverschämt. Das Frühstück selbst war sehr spärlich, lieblos dargeboten und jedes Produkt das billigste vom billigen. Die warmen Speisen komplett ungewürzt, Rührei quasi flüssig und der Bacon so hart dass man ihn kaum essen konnte. Ich bin eigentlich nicht pingelig was Hotels angeht und schreibe auch sehr selten Bewertungen aber da ich die anderen Bewertungen so unverhältnismäßig gut fand dachte ich es sei wohl nötig.

The property, staff, room and amenities were wonderful. We loved being able to walk uptown and even catch a trail behind the lake house. Breakfast looking out on the lake was great. The food was pretty good as well.

Very beautiful location. Only difficulty we faced was unable to use baby pram since the geography is hilly. The old building is not properly maintained. Initially I got room in 52 old building which was bit difficult to stay because of some cleaning substances smell and dark green background in that room makes room dark with negative energy. Anyway they sorted it my giving another room 67 in new building but in that room there was no windows to see the natural beauty. room 68 was very excellent with proper lighting and ventilation. I suggest all rooms should be same like in room no 68.

It was lovely. However, you need to be quite fit to get up to your room. The check in and the breakfast was across the road. This was not made clear . Bit challenging when raining. Even getting the car up the hill can be tricky.

I should have reviewed the rooms better as I booked to go into the lake house not knowing it was up a small incline which was too much for my 81 yr old mum. Rooms are beautifully decorated and has everything you need just wrong location for us.

Great Little Find
What a nice place! Note that this hotel is not directly on the water but just up the hill from the lake. The property was beautiful, the staff very friendly, the rooms clean and comfortable and the food excellent. Note that the check in is in the restaurant at the bottom of the hill and across the street. I would definitely stay at this property if in the area again.

I gave 5 stars, but not for the Lakehouse at the Waterhead Inn. We arrived there to find no way to get in and waited for 15 minutes in torrential rain wondering what to do. We then walked down the hill to the Waterhead Inn itself to find that the Lakehouse was not actually open, despite being offered on Expedia and despite booking it! We were however very pleased to be offered a room at the Waterhead Inn instead, and at the same price of £109. The Waterhead Inn is excellent, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are brand new and impeccable, and the breakfast, which was included in the price, was superb and worth half the price of the room alone. The Waterhead Inn is far better than some hotels costing significantly more.

Ok but not great.
A little out dated and better places in Ambleside for same price. Stayed at Lakehouse, you check in at the Imn over road but no where tells you this in booking or on door or lakehouse. No direct phone number to bar/ reception from room so when we didn't have any towels we had to ring through generic Inns Collection. Towels provided quickly. Radiator valve fallen off in bathroom so no way to adjust heat in there. Staff were polite and keen to help. Breakfast was ok, had hoped for better.

The location in front off the lake is very conveniente. The rooms are nicely decored and equiped. We stayed at the lakehouse and the instructions for the reception location for the check in were not clear because it is inside they restaurant and there are no signs. Breakfast is good but one day they didnt have fruit. Restaurant for dinner Open until 9pm which is helpful. We ordered soup one night and it was extremely salty

Great location, and recently opened after reno, with a rating at the time of booking of 9.2. Staff are friendly and room looked like new. Food was good, once it arrived. We did get complimentary drinks due to the limited menu (being pre-ordered) and our mains were delayed 45min due to a large party given preference. Check-in was confusing, and was actually at Waterhead Inn across the road not the Lake house. Reception was at the bar, which was odd. Initially given the keys to someone else’s room, but once sorted we found our room but was very warm, no fan or air con so had to leave window open which was then noisy. Tv remote was replaced for correct one. Noted no fridge to keep some cold drinks or a safe, but also strangely-no hooks in ensuite to hang towels. Breakfast food was good, although a bit chaotic, very busy, narrow walk ways and steps to negotiate, also the team were holding meetings with contractors and doing admin amongst the diners which didn't help, made us feel we were up late each morning and getting in the way. A restaurant Front of House and a separate reception/office would certainly help a hotel of this size.

Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. From arriving to leaving felt welcome. If I could give a gold star I would. The staff were cheerful and you could tell that a lot of the guests had been there before. That in itself shows how great this place was! Overly expensive, unprofessionally managed hotel
Overly expensive for the kind of property this is and how its managed. The staff is very rude and racist towards asians/ muslims. Very average hotel, not even a 3 star by any means and they classify themselves as 4. Doesnt even have a proper place to sit other than the 2 old chairs in the hallway. Old carpets and furniture, Low class old mattress and pillows. No change of linen or proper cleaning. Only one staff in the whole property which is clearly not how a hotel is managed. No trash cans on property and be prepared to be harassed and extorted for more money by the staff for any service u ask for. Only one good thing which i can mention is its location. Very less Walking distance from ambleside pier.

Short walk to the beautiful lake. Do note that the drive up into the property is a small slope and would be slightly difficult for larger cars. Cleanliness was alright with the exception of some cobwebs at the corner ceilings. Nice place, great staff, well equipped!

Very pretty place, very nearly great.
Good: Beautiful building and grounds, nicely decorated, amazing view from the window. Nice breakfast, friendly staff. Quiet. Got a good night's sleep. Not-so-good: There were several minor maintenance issues in the room (bulb not working, cupboard door loose). There was no safe in the room. We had a ground floor room but the windows were not very secure, which was a bit of a concern. Also, my stay was in summer but I suspect the single-glazed windows would be draughty and cold in the winter. Could have been excellent except for these minor niggles.

Beautiful area disappointed with the room
The Hotel is situated perfectly for great views and access to Lake Windermere and surrounding lakes and beautiful towns. Breakfast was good and team supporting were helpful. Shower was great. Did feel that the cost of the room (room 210 over £200) was not justified by the condition we found it in. Hair and small towel were in the sink on arrival, bed appeared to have been made in a rush with hair in and on it. Thick layers of dust around the bedframe, spiders and cobwebs above the window frame and right curtain slightly hanging off from broken clip. Mould in parts of the shower too. The room felt very tired and unclean. The team did apologise and came to clean the room but majority of the issues remained. For the money I paid and as it was for my partner’s birthday, I was very disappointed, and although we will be returning to the area as it is beautiful, we won’t be returning to this hotel.

I think the reception we received was superb from the second we walked into the building. The hotel is spacious and roomy, a period property in nice well kept grounds above the road and set back and lined with big mature trees to dampen the noise from the passing traffic. Apparently they are having a refurb in the hotel, which will be nice, but it does have character and a warm feeling, this is mainly down to the girls running the place, they are really friendly and genuinely nice and also very helpful, they have a great breakfast to set you up for the day too. It's a 15 min walk into the town, or a 2 minute bus ride just across the road from the property. We sat under cover of the pagoda for our packed lunch prior going for a walk, it was nice and pleasant. A two minute walk and your at Ambleside pier, great for a boat ride or ice cream. We recommend walking across to the pier and then go on the back road into the town, you get to see more of what the town has to offer, I.e a nice park, rugby field, crazy golf, cinema and abundance of well crafted architectural buildings mixed with stone and slate. The locals appreciate your business and the ambience of the town felt really friendly. Overall a lot crammed in such a short stay, but it was a great place to visit and we will return.
