Wir waren mit allen total zufrieden, das Personal war stets freundlich, hilfsbereit, zuvorkommend, das Essen sowohl im Buffet Restaurant als auch in den 4 a la Card Restaurants war immer sehr gut, wir hatten ein Zimmer mit direktem Zugang zum Strand und waren auch hier mit dem Zimmer super zufrieden

Das Positive vorweg: Das Hotel Akumal Bay hat einen tollen Service, egal in welcher Position: sehr zuvorkommend und auch authentisch und freundlich. Der Strand ist wundervoll, teilweise ist der Einstieg sehr steinig - Vorsicht ! Seegras wird hier mit aller Macht bekämpft, sehr erträglich. Leider waren wir jedoch mit dem Hotel größtenteils nicht zufrieden: 1.) Essenauswahl überhaupt nicht mexikanisch, das Essen war auch weitestgehend nicht gut. Poolbar Mittagsbuffet sehr verdreckt, verschmutzt und unappetitlich. 2.) Cocktails fürchterlich, billiger Fusel wird hier ausgeschenkt. Lieber nur Wasser trinken, ist auch gesünder. 3.) Die Zimmer sind sehr hellhörig und teilweise gibt es schon einige Defekte, z.B. klemmende Tür, ausgehängte Schiebetür, defektes Fliegengitter. 4.) Der Pool ist versifft und total warm, hier saßen den ganzen Tag unsere amerikanischen Mitmenschen in Ganzkörperschwimmanzug, Schwimmhut und 1 Liter Trinkbechern und unterhielten sich lautstark. Alles in allem sind wir -gerade auch in dieser Preiskategorie- nicht zufrieden gewesen.

Wir sind zum wiederholten Mal da und es hat uns wieder sehr gut gefallen. Wirklich schön angelegte und anspruchsvolle Anlage. Es gibt viele Sunbeds, Liegen am Strand und Hängematten. Die großzügigen Zimmer verfügen über einen eigenen Whirlpool auf Balkon/Terrasse. Die Mini-Bar wird täglich aufgefüllt. Das Essen im Buffet- sowie in den A la carte-Restaurants ist sehr gut, ebenso die Cocktails. Es gibt sogar eine Sushi-Bar direkt am Strand. Die Animation ist sehr zurückhaltend, für Kinder und Jugendliche wird wenig geboten. Abends ist alles dezent beleuchtet und die Atmosphäre eher gediegen.

Positiv überrascht für all inclusive
Nach meiner letzten Erfahrung mit All Inclusive wollte ich mir das nie wieder antun, hatte in Akumal aber leider keine andere Möglichkeit, da sonst alles ausgebucht war. Ich wurde positiv überrascht! Die Zimmer sind zwar einfach, dafür aber alle mit Meerblick und sehr sauber (toller Zitrusduft!). Der Service ist zuvorkommend und besonders überrascht war ich von der Qualität des Essens! Yoga & Meditation wurde 5x am Tag angeboten. Außerdem ist Akumal ein toller Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge nach Tulum, zu den verschiedenen Cenoten und unbedingt mit den Schildkröten schnorcheln!

lets just start with one word, STAFF!!!I have never stayed at any resort anywhere in the world with such an amazing staff, this was my first time and definitley will be back because of them, is it everything ?no , what can be worked in is the beach loungers , they are horrible and old , need to be more comfortable on that beautiful beach, second the pools need some work , and lastley the food at breakfast was not good , always look forwars to breakfast and had to settle with pbandj sandwich , but the snack bar at lunch is fantastic as is the specialty restaurants and if you are a sushi lover this is the place for you , rooms are comfy and any issue you may have is worked on ASAP , with smiles!!! again have stayed at many resorts in Riviera Maya and they are huge and love them but Akumal Bay felt like i was leaving home , they make you feel that good so because of that wonderful amazing beautiful staff we will be back as soon as we can !!! Thank you so much , if you guys only knew how bad my husband and i needed this , hugs to you all , till we see you again!!!

Staff and accommodations were excellent. they didn't have our junior suite that we booked available when we checked in so they upgraded us to a penthouse suite for no charge (which was awesome). They were also doing construction all along the 2nd floor which was very loud so my friends had to move their rooms due to the noise. But the place is wonderful and the staff are so nice. definitely will stay again!

We love the snorkeling at the resort and the staff. The room we had 2001 needed work. Broken mirror. Light fixture hanging from ceiling. We had cockroaches in the room. Box springs had holes in it. Air conditioner did not cool down enough. Lowest was 24. Maids didn’t clean very well. Paint was falling off the wall in the bathroom. The maids didn’t clean the floors. The sheets on the bed was a flat sheet that didn’t fit.

We stayed at the property from April 29 - May 3, if you need an easy summation of our stay... it is an all-inclusive property with all the food and drink you can ingest but i actually lost weight!!! Not my strategy on a high dollar glutton vacation. First/Worst was our roof top penthouse room 2314 had no air conditioning, never cooled off the entire week.. At night when the ambient air would fall into low seventies room temperature would also fall one degree but the humidity was oppressive. So our swimsuits and evening attire remained damp after removal and hanging up to dry. The buffet style breakfast was the worst variety, selection and quality we have ever experienced at an all inclusive resort. One example, there french toast offering was just triangle cut slices of bread dropped on a grill to slightly blacken (no egg batter dipped) just raw toast. Aurora at omellette station was the only bright person in the entire room. All the seating cushions had food crumbs and mildew stains. Dinner at the al a carte restaurants was okay, but eating areas were hot and humid, menu selection was very limited and repetitive in all four places; a salad, one hot or one cold soup and then about eight entrees to choose with only two being appetizing. This is also the first resort where we could not find a beach or pool lounger... oh we have suffered from the towel game at other places but this time it wasnt that you were stuck in corner or well back of water line, you were stuc

We have been in this hotel many times and always liked it a lot. In the last couple of years, we feel it’s a getting a bit run down. Lots of broken chairs at the beach. The food so so. We still like the place but perhaps the most concerning issue is that the beach has far more rocks than it used to and there are massive sting rays swimming close to shore which means you need to be super careful when you get in the water and I would not allow young kids alone. That makes it fun to snorkel but not very safe for families with young kids. We do love that they preserve animals and sea life, like the marine turtles and there’s lots of iguanas, agoutis and coatis running around the property but they don’t bother you at all. All in all a good interesting area.

A beautiful resort with a lovely beach, four different restaurants plus a buffet all with delicious food. We had one of the newly renovated rooms in block 3 with a walkout to the beach (no swimming as it is very rocky at this part). The staff are all friendly and helpful.

Just got back, Great place to stay, the location is really good. It’s a very quiet and relaxing resort. Kids are allowed but still feels like acults only. The infrastructure, rooms especially could use some updates, had some issues in our room I’m not one to complain but had to bring it up to staff, and Elvira was excellent made sure we were happy, (the owners of the resort are very lucky to have staff like this) At the end of the day some of the rooms maybe not in great condition, however with my experience the location next to the beach, all the lounges and grounds on the resort are great and the awesome workers are what are ultimately holding this place to be a top resort, despite some infrastructure issues.

The food was excellent and very diverse. We felt very comfortable and welcomed here. The rooms were spacious and clean. The stuff was always helpful and friendly. The only negatives thing we experienced during our stay was diluted with water wine served to us in the snack bar. It ruins the reputation of this fantastic place. Everything else was excellent

This is not a 5 star property. I’m baffled by the rave reviews. Rooms are sizable, but very dated and not thoughtfully planned. Only one outlet in the room on one side of the bed, mold in the shower, fixtures rickety, no door to bathroom area. Food is so so awful. Tasteless to downright terrible. Greasy, mystery meats, stale chips, overcooked or undercooked foods. After the first 2 days we mostly ate out at Lo hol down the beach or in Tulum. Staff is very kind, but not 5 star. When asking for directions to anywhere on or off the property we often got, “oh it’s that way” with a hand waved in a general area. While beach water is lovely to look at, beach is short and covered with seaweed and several feet of rocks. The Secrets hotel right next door has a lovely beach- they should follow their lead. Beach towels thread bare and many beach chairs broken. Drinks available at beach (drink service was very good at beach!), but no food service. Overall with a big rehab and completely new menu it could move up a star, but having traveled frequently and stayed at a few all inclusives I can confidently say this is a 3 star hotel.
