Description

Embark on a visually stunning tour of northern Switzerland that takes you to the crashing waters of Rhine Falls and the well-preserved mediaeval village of Stein am Rhein. Enjoy ample photo opportunities in the Swiss countryside and pay a visit to a charming castle historically rich excursion.

After pick-up from the Sihlquai Bus Terminal in Zürich , enjoy a relaxing ride alongside gently rolling vineyards and through quaint farming villages to Laufen Castle. Dating back to the Old Zürich War of the mid-1400s, this fairytale castle is a Swiss Heritage Site perched above the tumbling cascades of Rhine Falls, where you head next. Take in spectacular views of immense volumes of water tumbling over a 450-foot-wide (150-metre) cliff and crashing into wide pools below. Feel the waterfall's mighty rumble and gentle mist in your face while standing on a viewing platform right above it.

Your last stop is Stein am Rhein, a mediaeval town filled with well-preserved churches and distinctive timberframe houses. Take a guided stroll and admire houses adorned with colourful frescoes, all while learning a little about the village's history, and then settle back into the coach for the ride back to Zürich.

Excellent tour - guide was very informative and gave a lot of great tips for what to do when we arrived at the Falls and at Stein am Rhein, told us a lot about the history and about the country in general and was always offering to take photos for everyone at the Falls. There was an opportunity to get on a boat at the falls which took us right up close. Excellent view. And plenty of time to explore Stein am Rhein, the stores and the buildings.

it's a good half a day excursion if you have limited time exploring zurich, however, it could be improved in so many ways. the tour guide is nice but did not get the attention of the group. she pretty much did all the history talking about the village that we were going to while we were inside the bus and left us kind of on our own when we got there. the rhein falls was beautiful as well as the stein en rheim village though.
