Ungeziefer im Zimmer der Kinder?
Das Grand Hyatt in Washington ist an sich ein exzellentes Hotel der Oberklasse. Leider hat sich die Hotelleitung in einem Punkt nicht so benommen, wie man sich dies von einem Spitzenhotel erwarten könnte: Wir hatten zwei Zimmer, ein Elternzimmer, ein Jugendzimmer für unsere 3 Mädchen. Keinerlei Probleme im Elternzimmer, allles super, im Jugendzimmer schon: Alle 3 Mädchen zeigten schwere Insektenstiche und Hautreizungen, an den Armen,den Beinen bis hin zum Bauchbereich. In der 2 Nacht hat eine der 3 jungen Damen einen leichten Allergieschock auf die Stiche gemacht, bis hin zu massivem Unwohlsein. Wir mussten den Emergency Room einer Klinik in Washington aufsuchen, mit massiven Einschnitten in unseren Aufenthalt. Wir haben auf Bettwanzen oder Flöhe getippt, aber keine Zeit wegen des Krankenhausaufenthalt nach Beweisen zu suchen. Die informierte Hotelleitung hat nach unserer Abfahrt nach drei Nächten einen Kammerjäger bestellt, der aber, wie uns mitgeteilt wurde, nichts gefunden hat im Zimmer und Bett. Dies scheint mir etwas wenig, keine weitere Entschuldigung, oder sonstiges Angebot. Nach weiterer Analyse kann nur das Hotelzimmer in Frage kommen, da sonst nirgends die drei Mädchen isoliert oder alleine unterwegs waren, und in der Unterkunft zuvor nicht zusammen in einem Zimmer lagen. Im Elternzimmer. Die Reaktion der Hotelleitung hat uns sehr enttäuscht!

Visited DC recently for the cherry blossom. The property was under construction when we stayed there. No mention of such thing prior to booking a nonrefundable room. As soon as I booked it, I got a message alerting me that it was being renovated but since it was non refundable, I just left it and didn’t bother. We were staying only 3 nights. The banging noise started precisely at 9 AM and continued throughout each day. We were outside most of the time, so it didn’t really bother us, but would have appreciated the information prior to booking the property. Other than that everything was great. Good location with a lot of high-end store around. Great restaurants in the area that’s walkable.

Horrific 3 days. Hotel under construction. Reservation made 10 months ago & not told until check in. First room bathroom full of mold. Changed rooms. Very loud drilling started at 7:45. Room had major water leak 2nd day damaging my sisters luggage. Manager would not come out of office. Desk clerk offered breakfast or gift shop. Contacted Expedia who contacted hotel. Kept them on hold 10 minutes then they hung up on him.

I genuinely love this hotel and I'd definitely return if it was just me and my husband this time. I certainly wouldn't do it with my children again - I'd find a more spacious and family friendly hotel. The renovations were painful. I'm sure they weren't doing construction in the entire hotel, so Im really not sure how I ended up being so unlucky as to be placed in a room that seemed to be right below/above/beside the knocking and drilling that began between 8-8:30am! Every morning. For all 5 days of my stay. Unfortunately I was unaware of the $20 daily resort fee, and when I checked in, it wasn't mentioned to me at all. I only discovered it when I went into my account to Zelle someone and noticed several hundred dollars charged by the hotel. So since I discovered it at the last minute, I wasn't really able to take advantage of whatever this $20 daily fee gave to me - which really isn't much unless you decide to use every tea bag and coffee pod in the room. Every day. The snacks they said was there for our use at the front was hidden away in the back "because there were too many children around taking them" (their words, not mine) so you had to request them. The concierge did give me a handful of granola bars though, and it saved my kids from starvation on their flight back home. So yay for that! Finally, the location of this place is unmatched! Metro center is a block away, Gallery Place/Chinatown is about 3 blocks away. Everything is walkable! I'll be back!
