Magnuson Grand Hotel and Conference Center in Tyler Tx. has a fancy name; but it is a dump! My room had no phone, no alarm clock, no working smoke detectors; but it did have bugs. Big ones! That hotel had seen it’s best days 50 years ago; so I checked out of there and stayed at the Hilton next door.

The staff was pleasant. The neighbors were loud and smoking all night. there was an empty shopping cart outside my door. The room was clean.

The price was very reasonable. The check in and check out process was very easy and quick. The hotel looks and feels old, but the rooms were very spacious and clean.
The area around the hotel has several nice breakfast and dining options in a walkable distance.
The Rose Garden, the Azalea district and other local attractions are just a 15 - 20 min drive (at the most) from this hotel.
We enjoyed out stay.

Whole place smelled of smoke, including my room, which was supposed to be smoke free.
There appears to be mold in my room, I'm sure it's probably in all the rooms. This is an outdated property that appears to have people living in the rooms as their residence. Did not feel safe at all! Front desk guy was very rude! Booked it for 2 nights, never been to Tyler, NO WAY IN HELL I'M STAYING HERE AGAIN!!
