The lobby is beautiful, staff was helpful and friendly. Elevators are small. property is quiet which we loved, we were there for a show at the balboa theater and were able to walk. gaslamp is also within walking distance. cleanliness could be better. We had some dirty towels. you ciuld tell counters/ lamp tables had not been cleaned in a while.One of the TVs in our room didn't work

This is a conveniently located boutique hotel in walking distance to the Gaslamp quarter and the convention center. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are in need of updating, though. Some drawers were broken, lighting is a bit dark, and carpets seem worn.

We were given a really small room when we first checked in and were told that we would be charged $25 usd service fee per day. We had booked a queen size bed but the one we had seeemd more like a double bed. We later inquired if there was a bigger room and the lady was kind enough to transfer us. To be honest the hotel is old and does not have good amenities. Yes it’s convenient and within walking distance to many places in the downtown area but I would stay at a different hotel next time.

Such a quaint property. Hotel staff went above and beyond with our stay. They even kept the Easter decorations later for us to take pictures with the baby. Will definitely return!!

Stayed here for a night.Parking is valet only $50 per day with hotel fees and tax added upon checking out for me is over priced. Cleanliness can be improved , found previous guest dirty socks behind dresser but overall the property looks well maintained for its age. we managed to have a good stay.

This location was a two block walk to my SD office and a few more blocks put you in thr heart of Gaslamp. Clean and quiet, so it was the perfect place for me.

The hotel is in a quiet area of business downtown. Bed was very comfortable- pillows strange. The shower was a joke- almost no pressure - we were on the top floor. The AC was soo loud- we were happy it was chilly at night- no way you can sleep with that sound. Valley parking was convenient but expensive

While the staff was courteous and helpful and the room was okay, the common areas of the hotel looked tired, dated and very much in need of a facelift. TV wasn't working properly. Room was clean, but small. Elevators small and slow. The property was advertised as a grand old hotel, which it definitely was not. Should have cost a lot less for what it actually is.

I really like this property, it’s clean updated and works well for a turn around trip to San Diego but it is off a little from the hot spots and be prepared to use the valet which is $50 now.
