Would not stay there if it were free
We have a construction crew, my guys that were staying there sent me some pictures of the condition of the home, and they do not match up to what is advertised on line. (Granted they are things that can be touched up or fixed, it is not how we were expecting the home to be.) There was also a bad smell at the entrance. I received a phone call from one of my guys asking me to get them out of there as they just heard two gun shots very close. They did not feel safe staying there. When I spoke to Bobby, I voiced my concerns and said he could send someone out to touch up the walls and a cleaning person to take care of the smell. He also said that in the description on VRBO it mentions being under constant constructions and that things may need attention. I have read the description and do not see that anywhere. I told him that there were gunshots, and he said “IF” there were gun shots… he could not control anything on the outside of the home. (almost as if he didn't believe that there were.) I understand that you cannot control the environment around you, but I do feel that it is something that needs to be addressed. I instructed my guys to move out of the home. I asked for you to refund our rental fees for the dates that we are not staying. I was told (actual response) "I’m sorry but we not refund only because you not feel safe in area If was crime on your guest It’s different story? If any crime please send me police report?" I responded:"No crime on the guest but definitely have pictures that show condition of home. Thank you for your time. I can see this is going no where." their response:"Keep in mind we rented regular apartment Not hotel or commercial You guys check in yesterday not Today Yesterday was no any complaints? Any way we cancel your reservation as tomorrow Because today is to late If we rebook from tomorrow Will send you refaund for night not spend" my response: "Keep in mind that I tried to Call Bobby this morning, but Bobby has no voice mail set up on his phone. I was not expecting a hotel, but I was expecting the apartment to be in the same condition as the pictures. We use VRBO and other sites across the United States all the time and have never had an issue like this. My guys would have sucked it up and stayed even though it wasn't up to our normal standards. However, when there were gun shots fired, and your "host" makes a statement that questions if my crew is being honest that is where I draw the line.
