For the most part, we loved this place. We stayed for three nights. The home was very clean, the screened porch has an amazing view of the woods, and there are chickens, roosters and goats to visit. There is one bedroom that has an old-time arcade game loaded with all the oldies like Galaga and Pac-Man. We had a blast with that. There are also a couple of video game systems hooked up to the TVs. However, the sleeping arrangements left a lot to be desired. The arcade room had a great bed that was comfortable, but the other bedroom (master) had a bed that squeaked very loudly every time we moved even a little. Also, the mattress on this bed was SO soft and uncomfortable that my husband and I both got sore backs and slept very poorly. The listing for the house also lists a sofa bed that we had counted on using for another adult traveling with us. The owner let us know once we were there that the sofa was not a comfortable option, but there were two air mattresses in the closet. Turned out that one of them had no cord so it couldn't be inflated, and the other inflated okay, but then had a slow leak, so it deflated during the night. The adult trying to use this option had a very bad night the first night. When I contacted the owner, she was very apologetic and quickly brought over a camping mattress for the rest of the trip. It wasn't great, but better than the other options. The sofa is so old that even sitting on it is uncomfortable--you sink into it and can feel the bars of the sleeper sofa inside. We ended up sitting around the coffee table on the floor because it was more comfortable. The owner, Jen, was extremely responsive and did everything she could to help, but three out of the four people on the trip did not get even one good night's sleep. This was a real bummer, and definitely marred our visit. The other thing that was a problem for us, but may not be for all, is that all of the bedding and towels had been washed using fabric softener, which one family member is very sensitive to. It would probably be better if these products were not used at aIl just in case.
If this house had a new sleeper sofa or futon and a new squeak-free platform and mattress in the master bedroom, it would be a perfect spot. The kitchen is huge, well-equipped and easy to work in. The bathroom is very clean, with plenty of hot water available. The views are beautiful, and there are lots of trails through the surrounding woods, under huge pines. Gorgeous!
