Peaceful, rural stay.
I spent three nights in isolation and peace. There were a few initial problems but Sally was very approachable and helpful. The biggest drawback was the number of ants, but some insecticide helped with that. Lying in the bath at night watching the stars, and some satellites and even one shooting star was amazing. The road to the house is somewhat rough, so you might not want to drive your sedan there.

Great Location, Fantastic Host
Our stay surpassed our expectations, it offered an excellent opportunity to relax and reset. The property's strong points were: -The host is fantastic and enthusiastic, responds quickly and goes above and beyond for your stay. -The location is well secluded, backing onto a large nature reserve, however not too far away from larger population centres. -The cottage is well equipped for longer stays and can cater to a wide range of ages with various activities available in and around the cottage. -The property is a working farm and we were shown an insight into their hard work and progress, something that really demonstrates the friendliness and hospitality of the host. Overall, our experience was very memorable and tranquil, we hope to return soon.

A true country escape
This property is very much a bush retreat. Expect wildlife, wonderful views and proper country roads. It was great to be able to walk the farm with the kids. Close enough to places like Orange too for day trips.

We had a wonderful two nights - soo relaxing and the bath was amazing- some bathed under the stars - others in the evening- it was magical - we had a lovely outdoor fire - the house was toasty and we really appreciated the yummy treats Sally left us. Fabulous getaway
We absolutely loved our time at the Rockies, it was just the escape from the city that we needed. The cabin has everything you need, the beds are comfy, the kitchen well equiped, the comfort of a wood fire and the convenience of reverse cycle A/C when you don't want the fire. The location is perfect for reconnecting with nature, with great views, wildlife and heaps of places to explore. The bath under the stars was nothing short of amazing, the only thing that got our six year old out of it was the rustling of a kangaroo nearby. Sally, Jono and their daughter really made the stay that much more special though, it was great to get to know them, learn a bit about their farm and play with their three beautiful dogs. Thanks so much Sally, Jono and Isabelle for welcoming us to your farm and making our few days away so enjoyable. We look forward to visiting again.

Campfires and remoteness
We had a great stay at The Rockies. Sally was easy to communicate with and provided some welcome wine, chocolate and jams to enjoy during our stay. It was great to walk the property collecting wood and building a great bonfire each night and enjoying the outdoor bath with kangaroos around. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and the bed was warm and cozy. We had no issues driving off road with our forester (but probably wouldn't bring a tesla..) Don't forget your bread and milk.. the property is a fair way from Orange (about 50kms each way) 🙂 Would also highly recommend Mitch from Vine Ventures who could pick up/drop off from The Rockies as part of his full day tour. Fantastic to be able to leave the car at home and enjoy the great wine!!

Just beautiful!
I chose this place because of the outdoor bath and it was amazing! The Rockies is a secluded little cottage with all the amenities that you need. The host’s hospitality was wonderful, the left us some local produce to cook with. It was such a beautiful welcome to the property. Just outside the bathroom door, led a path to the amazing outdoor bath! It had steamy hot water and it was lovely to sit in it, on a cool autumn morning and listen to the local bird life and sheep in the background. Truly a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. This place is wonderful for the couple looking to get away, or a small family who are wanting to explore nature. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it!

The Rockies at Manildra
What a fantastic experience. Beautiful scenery with amazing wildlife. We had an abundance of butterflies, birds & kangaroos. We even saw a young deer at sunrise in the paddock right next to the house. Beautiful bush land behind the house where we went for an easy walk. A bath at sunset was the perfect way to end the day & view the stars. Sally’s hospitality was wonderful. A beautiful array of local treats greeted us at arrival. The house was perfect & well equipped for all our needs. There was also plenty of basic supplies in the pantry. We really enjoyed our stay & would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for that ultimate country getaway. 😀😀

A perfect getaway
Sally's property is a perfect place if you want to get away from concrete jungle. It is a peaceful farm with kangaroos occasionally visiting. The outdoor bath is an excellent addition. And lastly the local goodies that Sally had for us were a great touch. Would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Orange and want to have a peaceful time.

Just what we needed
So loved our time here at this little gem! It’s a little piece of paradise and the perfect place to recharge for the year ahead. I totally disagree with someone’s earlier review re front area being uninviting. I spent most of my time out there reading, soaking in the view and listening to the birds. Front concrete pad area gets the early morning sun. The trees provide some shade and it was fully shaded off to the side of the house so it was easy enough to move deck chairs and still enjoy the views without getting too hot. As to the comment re the bath being tucked away out the back of the house …. Where else would you put it? It’s perfectly positioned for privacy from other guests and affords ideal sunset viewing. I made good use of the bath morning, noon and night! My 3 teen sons did too - we had to create a timetable with bath use 😅 Yes you had to be a bit more careful navigating the road in a 2WD and the grass around the house is long ATM but totally understandable given the need for attention elsewhere on the farm after the recent floods. I would love to return during the cooler months and make use of the inside fire and fire pit and spend time exploring the property in foot. Thanks Sally and Isabelle for a wonderful stay!

Ahh the serenity
its a nice little cabin/house despite its age it is clean and well equipped. took my M3LR tesla through the farm roads as long as you take your time will be ok as the farm roads are just that and is to be expected. host was awesome.. we got wine, chocolate, fig jam and tomato relish, fresh strawberries and eggs all from that farm. The bush walking was awesome saw lots of plants birds and kangaroos in the conservation area and marked them in their paperwork to go towards conservation activities. The selling point is the bath... I am not exactly extroverted in this way but we definitely enjoyed a bottle of Perriere-Jouet that I brought and very much enjoyed the bath where we could both easily fit. One night we used the bath after dark and the stars are amazing because of the lack of light pollution. I recommend it, will probably go back at some point. bring supplies as nothing in either of the small towns we went to parks and orange for supplies.

A very relaxing, scenic property with plenty of native plants and numerous birds. A magnificent view over the valley and towards Mt Canobolas. There are plenty of areas where you can walk around the farm and into the adjacent forest.

Sydney Birthday Escape
The property was all and more than we expected with all the comforts included and available in a stay for a fabulous house on the acreage. The kids loved the freedom and were intrigued with life on a farm from the get go. As such learnt all about crops (word of the day, every day... was "Canola, Canola and more Canola!") and sheep shearing. The birthday girl turned off and relaxed, goal complete. The hospitality and friendliness was perfect and we would recommend the stay to anyone wanting an out from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. The advantage of the location, is it's an easy drive back into Orange which has so much to offer in itself. Thank you for the memories and hope to return soon

Just wonderful
We had such a wonderful stay. The place was fully equipped with everything you could need and extra little thoughtful touches like hot water bottles and fresh local produce were lovely. The boys loved wondering the farm and collecting firewood to make a bonfire. The host Sally was very welcoming and happy to share all her local knowledge. Watching the sunset from the bath has to be best thing ever, we can't wait to go back.

Perfect escape from the city - your teens will love it!
If you are craving wide open beautiful countryside and star filled skies after lockdowns and city life - this is for you. We had 4 nights here with our 13 and 16 year olds who just loved it. No need to leave the property as you are free to amble about and take in all that this beautiful and enormous farm has to offer .. farm animals, wildlife and birds galore! Internet reception is excellent but tell your teens its not and enjoy a screen free stay! Ours were happy to scour for firewood and use the outdoor firepit (being winter it is allowed) every night - we had great family time around that fire under the full moon! Sally is the most welcoming and generous of hosts and so willing to give you her time - we were all fascinated to learn about life on her farm, she really made our stay. A welcome basket on arrival was just the beginning. Dreaming of our next stay. x

We had a lovely stay at the Rockies. Sally was an excellent host and a pleasure to communicate with. Our first booking was in November 2021, but because of the flooding we postponed our trip to April 2022. Sally was super accommodating and was able to change the date with no issues. Sally's property is so stunning. I enjoyed many walks and saw so much wildlife. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need to prepare a perfect meal. The outdoor bath was a highlight. There was a nice a chill in the air, which made a morning soak very enjoyable. I would highly recommend the Rockies for anyone looking to unwind and take in the beautiful countryside.

Beautiful setting, bit smaller than we thought
The house is in a stunning location, a little hard to access in a normal 2WD (4WD or a non precious car is recommended) but the views were amazing. Can’t see the sunset from here, the sunrise however was breathtaking. We had to leave our friends’ cars at the bottom and do rounds in our 4WD because the hill was a bit rough. Something to note. The house/cottage was comfortable and clean, the beds were very comfy and the pictures are accurate. There’s nowhere really to hang out outside, a narrow concrete deck with two chairs and a dining table on the side but it’s not spacious or too inviting. Felt a bit squishy for 6 adults. The living room and kitchen are all pretty small. The bath tub out the back looked nice but you have to walk through some long grass and it’s kind of hidden at the back of the house. Not much of a view from there. We couldn’t locate the outdoor fireplace and we’re strongly told by the owner that we weren’t allowed to light it because of the season even though it had been raining a lot, flooding in many nearby locations, and many national parks and councils were allowing outdoor fires (we camped the night before). She said it was illegal. All in all we had a wonderful time at the house and made visits to nearby towns, but have mixed thoughts due to the size of the house and the strict rules that came with it.

It is illegal to light a fire during the Bush Fire Danger Period in NSW without a permit. Please see this link for more information: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/BFDP. Although it has been a wetter summer than normal, as the reviewer points out, there is currently a lot of long grass and combustible material. There were also many unharvested crops close by. The Rockies is near a forest, and extensive open woodland. A bushfire would be very dangerous and devastating to us, the community and the local environment. To any future guests reading this, please do not take these issues lightly. Also note substantial fines and prison terms of up to 12 months may apply to persons found to be in breach of the Rural Fires Act 1997 and its Regulations. Also you do need at least average clearance for the road as stated on the website.

What we needed, simply perfect
Sally the host, description, information and assistance was all spot on. The house is clean and well appointed a fully equiped kitchen with everything you need, including a new stove oven. Everything promised was delivered. The heated out door bath WOW! A perfect way to relax after a days bush walking. The location is central to so many attractions, towns, National parks, look outs, water falls all close by. Simply not enamours time to take it all in. We will definitely return and highly recommend The Rockies

Great place to relax!!!
The interior of the house was clean, very comfortable and user friendly. The outdoor bath was lovely to soak in. The real champion of this house is the view and tranquility. Sally had told us before that the road there was rough and the gardens were not as they appear in the photos, this was very true, but it was the most relaxing weekend I have had.

Fantastic Getaway
Just what we were looking forward. Fantastic secluded farm stay with beautiful panoramic views, cosy little property. Had a trouble with the oven (on it's last legs) and we took all oven baked meals to reheat. Sally was so nice and accommodating, came and took our meals and baked them herself, delivering them hot to us each night. Such fantastic service. Would definitely go again!

A wonderful peaceful getaway
What a wonderful property with a great host who went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. My children loved spending time by the creek with the farm dogs and wandering for hours around the farm. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a break from suburbia and the noise of neighbours!

Amazing getaway
This place is perfect to get away and enjoy nature. The outdoor bath was definitely a winner, watching the sunset while having a soak. We then spent the nights outside next to the fire watching the stars. Lots to do around the area also or a perfect spot to stay in and relax. Sally was an amazing host. Lovely farm stay
The farm is located in a beautiful spot with views of the rolling hills. It's a huge property so the house is very private. The kids got a taste of farm life - feeding chickens, learning about cows, sowing barley on a tractor and watching the sheep. The hosts - Sally and Jonno - are very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Lots of lovely touches like milk, eggs, jam etc on arrival. We were very warm, with the fireplace plus heaters in the rooms. There's also air-conditioning if you don't like the novelty of lighting a fire. We spent a week and found there was lots of space. The only downside was the many spiders! Unfortunately, it's probably part and parcel of being on a real working farm and in a building that's not always occupied, but something to be conscious of if you're not a spider fan.
