Viva Wyndham V Samana is in a fantastic location - the mountains in the backdrop and clean beaches stretching in both directions... it's the kind of beach that makes you say "I feel like this is what they use for screen savers".
Where it falls short, compared to other all inclusive resorts, is the amenities. There's only 1 bar open for most of the day, only 2 public bathrooms on property, and nothing at the pool. It's a relatively small property, so it's not a huge hike to get to the bathroom/bar, but nonetheless. Sometimes there'd be a long line at the bar for drinks, when a 2nd bar would easily remedy this.
Also, the food... the dinner meals were pretty good, not a ton of food, but multiple courses and pretty good quality. I enjoyed Fusion the best of the 3. But the buffet was not great, and the beach-side snack option was really not very good.
The customer service, across the board, was adequate but not exceptional.
The room was clean, the bathroom was nice - but the AC left something to be desired. 1st, it had a built in motion sensor that kept cutting off over and over again. They fixed that, but someone was smoking in a nearby room and the fumes came through to our room. That was unfortunate.
Overall, not the best resort I've been to, but not bad at all. Towels were plentiful for the pool/beach, they had an animation team that tried hard to engage the guests, and the setting was absolutely beautiful. Definitely more positives than negatives.
